During this winter as with last winter we have had so much snow that the school systems are scrambling to arrange make up days. It has always been in the past the Memorial Day and MLK day were "protected holidays" which means they can not be used for make up days. Well Memorial Day is being used now for the second time in 2 years, and MLK day remains untouched Memorial Day is a holiday that has great meaning to this country, and they unprotect it, but not the other. This is wrong, either protect them both, or neither, or if they make one unprotected for that school year, then make them both unprotected for the school year This isnt fair to our Veteran's families who celebrate lost loved ones who fought for this country, to make their day unprotected, and leave the other alone..you see where this is going...we need to get this changed, and there are only 2 options, leave them both protected, or make them both protected, but can be made unprotected if necessary
