Letter to Boston School Committee
Dear School Committee member, I write to you today to voice not only some of my concerns, but those of my constituents as well. The school committee members along with the superintendent have done a great job in improving our school system while listening to concerns from parents, students, faculty and community members. Although much progress has been made there are still areas which raise many concerns. Among those areas we can improve on include the following: 1. There are no mandated MCAS programs for students falling behind. 2. There are schools with some of the oldest computers I have seen in years 3. Schools with no Wireless Internet or classrooms with no internet 4. Principals with no Discretionary Funding 5. Schools with no after school program or comprehensive educational programs 6. Schools with no music programs or music school. 7. Schools with no before/after school programs 8. Teachers with no supplies and having to buy it themselves, teachers given 1 ream of paper a month to make copies for homework and worksheets etc. 9. Exit interviews as a pre-requisite for students looking to drop Thank you for taking the time to listen to our concerns. I look forward to partnering with you to try and address some of these issues. Please feel free to contact me at anytime at (617) 722-2060. Sincerely, Carlos Henriquez State Representative
