The tragedy in CT has raised awareness and heightened our senses to start asking more questions and to reevaluate the security systems put in place at our own child's school. We, are parents are not satisfied with the current security measures as they are not enough to protect our children any future children at Triumph Academy. We need increased security; we count on our children coming home after school each day. Parents rely on the school to take extra measures to create a safe environment for our children. We, as parents of the County of Monroe are demanding that an armed liaison officer be placed in our school. There should be locked doors, cameras throughout the outside of the buildings, video surveillance entry only, and an Emergency Response Alert button to alert authorities in a quicker manner; one second could save a life and/or lives. We, as parents, are standing together to take control and make a difference.

On 12/14/2012, all of our lives as parents changed just a little more.  This tragic event has put just a little bit more fear in every one of us.  We need to advocate our children.  If we do not advocate our children, who is going to?  We need to be the voice of our children.  Somebody has to listen and multiple voices speak bigger volumes.  We should all be able to drop our child/children off at Triumph Academy knowing that they are just a little safer than yesterday.
