Please support our petition for the re-introduction of a Nit Nurse at Rosh Pinah School.

Head lice are common in children, but can affect anyone of any age. They are not a sign of dirty hair or poor hygiene. Close hair to hair contact is usually needed to pass lice on. Most head lice infections are caught from family or close friends who are not aware that they have head lice. Many people with head lice do not have any symptoms.  Therefore, you may not notice that you have head lice for a while, and you may have passed them on to others for some time.

There is never a good time for your child (or you!) to get nits but it is widely argued that the introduction of a nit nurse in school dramatically reduces and stabilises the amount of cases as treating all infected children together is the single most effective way of eradicating nits in a school. Previously a nit nurse was used by our school with fantastic results however the stigma attached to having "the nits" forced many to appeal the practice as an infringement of their right to privacy for fear of any potential embarrassment to themselves or their children.

Therefore, we are petitioning to re-instate a nit nurse in order to once again reduce the constant high number of sightings at school and as a result any embarrassment.
