Dear Jay Jacobs:

We as the Auburn University Tiger Football team fan base, appreciate all that you have brought to Auburn Tigers football family in your tenure. We have been blessed with some terrific coaches, a national championship, and appear to be generally relevant in the national media. Furthermore, We believe the hiring of Gus Malzhan is proving to be one of the best hires ever for our beloved Tigers. However, there is little doubt that part of our success has largely stemmed from being an SEC member and playing the Alabama Crimson Tide annually. As a fan base it is not lost on us that a 1 or 2 loss Auburn football team NEVER has the same amount of leeway of a 1 or 2 or even 3 loss Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Southern California or Ohio State. The key difference is those teams out of conference schedule. While you continue to schedule regional based match-ups with teams such as Clemson, Ga Tech, or WVA, the aforementioned teams are busy scheduling games against each other or against Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon, Wisconsin, and others. Behold the Tennesee Volunteers have a game against Oklahoma this season and next. While we appreciate you inviting the Washington State Cougars into Jordan-Hare to play, where is our return game on that series? Auburn will NEVER be taken seriously in the national media until we regularly schedule top out of conference games from conferences other than the ACC or Sunbelt. Do Auburn fans a favor and STOP scheduling Clemson. Help Gus Malzhan and the Auburn Tigers reach their TRUE potential by scheduling us to play top teams - take the attitude of anyone, anytime, ANYWHERE! Send us across the country and get the AUBURN brand out there. It will do much more financially than just having that "8th" home game if we actually have fans across the country and not just in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina!
