The reduction in the Schaberg Library branch hours will make it extremely difficult for working parents to bring their children to this wonderful gem of a library. Additionally, the quiet morning weekday hours will be lost to parents with babies and small children and also older adults who wish to use the computers and reading areas. The late afternoons are appropriate for the grade-school age children to use the library.

Currently, the business hours are: Monday-Thursday, 10:00 am-7:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am-5:00 pm, closed on Friday and Sunday. The new hours, effective Monday, October 11th are : Monday-Thursday, 1:00 pm- 6:00 pm, closed Friday-Sunday.

We urge the City Council to reconsider the decision to change the hours due to budget cuts. The Schaberg branch serves a large constituency that chooses to patronize this branch because of its proximity to local schools, homes and workplaces. The smaller size of the library provides a unique ambiance, safety for smaller children and better interaction with library staff. Please reconsider the change of business hours of the Schaberg Library!
