| 4 | Shawn | Pigott | CA | US | Alito is also for a Unitarian President above congress and the Courts. |
| 5 | Cynthia | Adams | CA | US | I am very much opposed to Judge Alito being confirmed. Call Dianne Feinstein, and let her know how you feel. |

| 8 | gregg | weissman | CA | | Senate Democrats: it is time to open your eyes and stop this - the timidity is incredible. We, the Democratic voters of California, will be watching closely, hoping that you grow enough spine to filibuster.

| 12 | jeri | bodemar | | | Alito is hiding his true colors. At least 84% of his judgements have been in favor of gov't and corporations. His support of more executive power is especially dangerous considering the outrageous power grabs of Bush & Co. |
| 13 | Patrick | True | CA | US | The healthy future of America is at stake. Alito supports the Bush view of extreme executive power and to hell with "checks and balances!" This directly attacks the very fabric of hope and justice. And the danger to America from Bush is FAR GREATER that all terrorists combined by destroying freedom. In fact, it appears that Bush hates American freedoms more than the terrorists. |
| 14 | Cathie | Royer | | | I believe myself to be a moderate and a centrist, although I'm sure others would find my philoposhy on life and society far more radical. At the end of the day, I want people to live in peace, security, and comfort while finding meaning in life (both this and "the next") and being actively responsible for making a living and making a life (both now and with a kind eye toward future generations). I think many other people are confused about what it means to create a just and functional society and I belive Alito is among those I consider confused. Help me make a society in which abortion is RARELY necessary, for example, and I will be more inclined to listen to reasons to make it difficult to get one. Show me that you are actively redressing past wrongs to enslaved African Americans and enacting sane immigration policies and I will be more inclined to to believe that we are truly leveling the playing field. I could add other examples, but why. I am among what many believe to the priviledged class: American, white, educated, middle class and striving. I am also someone Ann Coulter would consider a traitor. Either way, I still just want a life of higher purpose and love and I resent those who don't believe that each and every one is entitled to that and wants a societal fabric that creates a backdrop of peace and significance. |

| 16 | Kristine | Diehl | CA | US | As a disabled female caring for a disabled spouse; living in subsidized housing which has been underfunded and thready for those who need it. As a pair of persons, one using Medicare the other Medicaid, we watch the health care delivery system go straight down the tubes. As a person who works part time as an in-home caregiver, barely, I watch as our Governor (Rep)tries to cut funding for that program too. With all of these things in place for me and my spouse, I can tell you that someone like Alito is a further threat to any quality of life for people like me/us.
We already live on the "edge" in constant worry as to what will become of us; an Alito nomination feels like another "broken rib"(kick in the stomach), another broken tether(tethers that bind people/humans to quality of life), another thing to FEAR (As if there aren't enough things to fear). We feel very vulnerable as it is. Alito, and anyone like him, says to us: "Final Solution".
I watched the Alito hearings; the man came off, to me, as very cold and robotic..souless.
This country needs more compassionate judges/leaders. Compassion seasoned with wisdom. Alito is no King Solomon. We vote NO on Alito. |
| 17 | Susan | Drake | | US | |
| 18 | Patt | Taylor | CA | US | I am outraged that this nomination has gone this far without consideration for the millions of US citizens who oppose Judge Alito. To think that this man will be on the most important Supreme Court and won't be representing all of us fairly is just too, too scarey. |
| 19 | Jacqueline | Davidow | | | Judge Alito is not the one to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. He should be rejected by the senate. Surely Mr. Bush can find a more appropriate person to nominate, someone who cares about ALL Americans (including women) |

| 27 | Steve | Roescher | CA | US | |
| 28 | Anne | Mitchell | CA | US | Alito's biggest threat is to the constitutional separation of powers. His record favors an all powerful executive branch.
His appellate court opinions are against established rights against racial, economic & age & disabled discrimination.
His refusal to recognize the right of choice for women threatens families & the economy. |
| 29 | Miggles | Wallace | | US | |
| 30 | Louis | LaFortune | CA | | Alito is a dream come true
for corporate America. He has sided virtually every time with money and power against the rights of citizens. He must be stopped. |

| 46 | Carol | Severson | | US | On all fronts -- economic, social environmental, political, civil rights and individual freedoms -- Alioto's records shows that he champions, nurtures, supports and confirms the right wing position. The problem with this is that those decisions exclude the rights of a majority of people, but has untold devestating effect on them. |
