Comments: MJMY husband hass served two deployments in the last 5 years, one in Iraq, one in Afghanistan. PLEASE do not go for this health care plan and make a mockery of his service. You know Tricare will take a hit and that is just not right. He deserves every vet benefit he has earned by putting his life on the line and MINE on hold. I am 57 years old, he is 52, retirement is in sight...please please please let us retire and rest in peace not worrying about higher taxes and lower benefits of this health care plan that will hurt more than it will help.

Comments: Reform Medicare and Medicaid first -- both are financial disasters and fraught with fraud. And to think we would EXPAND THEM is preposterous. Only in government could programs destined for insolvency be considered for being offered to more people with the "Age 55 Buy In" to Medicare and expansion of Medicaid eligibility. Simply require everyone to have health insurance (like to drive a care you must have auto ins....you should also prove having health insurance to do so, to have a job, to have a professional license, etc.)....make it guaranteed issue and guaranteed renewable with no pre existing conditions exclusion. Health insurance is a matter of personal financial responsibility -- everyone MUST have it for the system to work. It should also be a matter of personal choice and the government shouldn't tell people what they have to buy. Smart people will go to High Deduct plans with a Health Savings account.....so let's make this option stronger!

Comments: Dear Senators Collins and Snowe, As a health insurance broker, I know that the frustrations felt by residents here in our state are expressed loudly and often. Let's not forget, that if we had more carriers to share the burden and a vibrant individual market (more like NH), then I'm certain you wouldn't be hearing as much as you do. People are suffering because the costs here are out of whack. Everything that is wrong with this bill is what Maine has already been experiencing. Please don't let this happen nationwide. Let's keep competition, encourage cost-saving measures such as tort reform and fraud containment and don't undermine Medicare anymore than it already is. From someone on the front lines every day working very hard to keep people insured, please know that passing this bill will make things worse here in Maine - not better. Please vote no. No public option, no funding of abortion, no illegal immigrants covered and no to passing something that will continue to bankrupt our country. Also, I and many of my clients have HSAs and it would be devastating for that tool to be undermined in any way. Reducing taxes helps businesses; we can't add all these taxes and expect things to improve. Thanks for your dedication and hard work on this issue.

Comments: Senators, I am convinced that the current proposal before the Senate dealing with health care is flawed and will have a significant negative impact on the economy of our country. I urge you to do all in your power to stop this bill and be leaders in other means of reducing the cost of health care. Tort reform and interstate purchasing of health insurance seem to be areas where significant progress can be made. Thank you for your service to our country.
