Avitrol is a very controversial Poison used by only a few pest control companies. Out of the 350 companies in the Las Vegas area, only 50 are known to use Avitrol. Avitrol is already banned in CA, CO, NY and UK. Avitrol acts as a “distressing agent.” The “idea” is one poisoned bird will ward off the rest of the flock by its seizure like convulsions before its dies. Birds are reported to “fall from the skies.” Endangered birds of prey are also at risk from secondary ingestion. Regardless of your opinion he cruelty aspect of the poisoning, what needs to be given consideration are the other possible threats to our community. Avitrol claims there are “little or no reported incidents of secondary ingestion” The problem with their hypothesis is the communities that are being subjected to the poison are unaware they are being subjected to the poison.
