We need a bit more support rather than our cost of living just rising all the time in excess of what we are able to earn.Flag

Name: Sandra O'Malley on Nov 22, 2012Comments: Removing mortgage relief hits the most vulnerable in our society. Those receiving benefit are well catered for. The level above is not. This combined with stopping children's allowance is a double hit on this sector. Surely it's not beyond the wit of T&R to devise a tax clawback for the wealthier which would be much fairer while leaving mortgage relief in place. Please don't do this.Flag

Name: Amanda Brehaut on Nov 22, 2012Comments: I am appalled at the states decision to remove tax relief for mortgage interest. It is hard enough as it is for the working class to get on the property ladder and these changes will only serve to further disadvantage the working class striving to get on the property ladder. Guernseybmortgage rates are not as competitive as in the uk, guernsey house prices are more expensive and furthermore essential workforce staff such as teachers are not able to take advantage of the teaching mortgage subsidies which are available to their uk counterparts. These proposed changes will disadvantage the working class. In light of the tax advantages given to financial enterprises which can afford to pay more, these changes only serve to further disillusion those who strive to make ends meet.Flag

Name: Annelise Moherndl on Nov 23, 2012Comments: This penalises the working class who are already struggling to make ends meet. If Guernsey continues in this manner, only the super rich and poor will live here as the middle class people will be forced to move away. The relief is in effect a reward to encourage people to buy houses.Flag
