Name: Paul Dowinton on Nov 17, 2012Comments: Will increase number of people unable to buy which will lead to greater demand for rental and worse still social housing where demand already outweighs properties available. Crazy idea. Increase stamp duty as a one off fee rather than penalise those fortunate enough to scrape the mortgage together off the back of mortgage relief.Flag

Comments: this is just not on, this will not help the housing prices comedown at all. all this will do is force landlords to raise rents to cover what they will lose, and this will force many families and people out of the homes of their choosing...this rediculous proposal will punish the people of guernsey who are not rich, who are not in political office, ordinary people who just want a normal home life. If the need for this is caused by zero - ten then scrap that, banks and the larger companies can certainly afford to pay their fair share of taxes etc so why should they get any special treatment? Start looking after the islanders and stop making us pay for the govts mistakes.Flag -

For god's sake deputies, look out for the people that put you where you are. Many people would not be able to get a mortgage and afford the repayments without the assistance of mortgage subsidy. We're getting hit on every side - don't make it harder, please!Flag

Had people realised that Gavin St P was going to make tis radical change he would never have been voted into the States. Deceitful I would say and again taking something away from the electorate. All I can say is that I hope those that voted this guy in are satisfied with the money they will lose for retirement, bringing up the kids and improving their quality of life. Guernsey will price it's self out of the market. He has nothing to lose and is taking something away that was available to everyone who will lose something.Flag
