Name: Jesse Herrera on Nov 27, 2012Comments: WPTC is one of the only stations in the Lycoming county area that plays any type of alternative music. The major stations play the same songs over and over with little change in the playlist. There are many young and older people who do not like the current music scene and look for new bands to listen to. Please save WPTC!Flag

Name: Kevin on Nov 28, 2012Comments: I was very disturbed to learn today that Penn College may be shutting down its radio station and is ending its mass communication program. I graduated from Penn College in 1996 with an associates degree in Broadcast Communications and I credit the program, and the radio station, with helping to shape me for a career in media that has continued ever since graduation. Although I only worked in radio until 2000, I continue to work as a journalist in local media today, and I credit that to my Penn College education. My education and experience has also been the perfect background to launch an orphan outreach project I am in the process of starting. Without Penn College’s communications program, or Rocket 88.1 FM (as it was known when I was a student), I hate to think where I would be today. The college, and the radio station, prepared me better for my career than I could have received at any other school. And I would not be happy working in any other field. I do not want to see the radio station shut down or the mass communication program discontinued. It saddens me greatly to read this may happen.Flag

Name: Don Larson on Dec 1, 2012Comments: The area deserves a radio station like this, one that isn't just a PROGRAM that someone flips a switch and you're good for that type of music for the day. If the station goes, so goes the frequency, possibly at a profit for the college. Lycoming College used to have a station, although very weak. and I don't think that is runnning. WPTC is great to set your car radio to as the first button on the left and hit if you're on your way home within 20 miles. AND one last thing: WPTC is on the web. In this age of wanting to promote your product, which in this case is Penn College itself, what better way for prospective students to want or inquire about enrolling. SAVE THE STATION! Thank YouFlag

Name: Rob Quicke on Dec 8, 2012Comments: I strongly disagree with any idea to sell or shut down WPTC. As founder of College Radio Day, an annual event that unites college radio stations, WPTC has been an outstanding leader in college radio for Pennsylvania. I am impressed with the students' passion and professionalism and it would be a disgrace to shutdown an entity that is clearly providing so much value to the students, the college AND the local community. College radio stations, more than ever, are the last bastions of local and community programming - so WHY do this?? College Radio Day stands with WPTC.Flag

As a college student, it saddens me to hear about this atrocity. We must do all we can to save this station. #savecollegeradioFlag

Like any other club on campus it provides an opportunity for all of the students to gain invaluable experience and a means to connect with the community. Chances are you paid very little for the NCE license, which you have been trusted to be the steward of. Should you find that Penn College is no long able to care for it, please give it to another local school or non-profit for exactly what it cost you.Flag

I look forward to my radio show each week to just relax and go into my own zone. Don't shut it down! Please!Flag
