Name: Jeffrey A. Nickerson on Nov 23, 2007Comments: We live on Turtlemound Dr. in the Knight Oak subdivision, which is close to the Wickham/Parkway intersection. We strongly believe increasing the density of low income housing in this area will lead to an increase in crime rates, reduce property values, and increase the load on emergency response services such as police and fire departments. Why do we have to another low income housing complex in our area I endorse the idea for the 55 or older community which would balance nicely with the Wickham Park senior center being constructed. Building the low income units ignores the local majority's desires and will logically lead to an increased burden on city services. Community leaders should not support a project that will have so many negative impacts on the community they've sworn to serve. Don't cave in to corporate pressure and their preference for profit no mattter how bad surrounding citizens will suffer.Flag

Name: Mary Addington on Nov 24, 2007Comments: This project will ruin Wickham Park. People come from all over the country to use this park. Many have campers and stay for months. There are many children's birthday parties, and the Boy Scouts organization uses it for camp outs. I live near the area and enjoy the safety of using the park. Please approve this project for a 55+ affordable living site so we have a place for the older generation to use and enjoy without fear.Flag

Name: Diane Fryt on Dec 15, 2007Comments: Another low income housing project within 1 square mile of Wickham Park is not compatable with the projects going on in Wickham Park. The traffic on Parkway Dr. and Wickham Rd. is already too much... With new project for retail center east of Wickham , the equestrian center ,the senior center and other projects going on just does not make this apartment project compatible with the area.... Spread out these living accomadations throughout Melbourne please!!!!Flag

Name: Rich Eginton on Jan 4, 2008Comments: I agree that low income housing projects should be dispersed and not concentrated in one area. Having a law enforcement background from NY I've witnessed first hand the results of concentrations of low income housing. Crime rates definitely increase. Drug and gang activity becomes extremely difficult to deal with effectively. It's like throwing a rock into a pond. The bigger the rock the bigger the ripple effect.Flag
