Comments: If this historical tree was going to be cut down, another similar tree would also have the same destiny. It is rare to see a hundred-year-old tree living around us, so we have to protect what we have left.

Comments: Shame on UH for not designing the building around the ficus. The Art Building incorporated the Adansonia tree and see how magnificent that looks today!

Comments: There are so many tress cut down to make way for "progress". Is it not time we honored the very tress that give us life over abstract intellectual planning that does not bend to nature

Comments: This tree has captivated my heart and given me solace so many times. It breaks my heart to think anyone could even consider cutting this beautiful friend down. Please, use your wits to make a better plan that does not involve carelessly cutting down an amazing, older and most precious tree.

Comments: A RECREATION CENTER!! I think the tree is far more beneficial to our campus than a stupid recreation center. Build elsewhere. Lots of room. Figure it out...how about build on Gartley

Comments: expediancy is not the way to achieve great things - Destroying living history in the name of efficiency and cost effectivenes is a slap in the face of human ingenuity and creativity. A University is supposed to foster both - not promote the mundane.

Comments: If the Tree is standing in the way of a new recreation center after millions of dollars were cut from the budget affecting staff and students and academic resources, this Tree is too wise to lose. It is also strikingly beautiful and part of UH history; why not then (as suggested in the petition text) design it into the new Center, if there truly needs to be one
