Dear Mr. Jairam Ramesh,
Honorable Minister of Environment and Forest of India

There were eight sub species of tigers of which three are now extinct. In 1969,
the tigers were declared an endangered species in India and in 1975, the tigers were
officially listed in Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild
Fauna and Flora (CITES), imposing a ban on buying or selling tiger parts.

The population of our national animal, the Bengal tigers are declining at an alarming rate. Its claimed that India looses one tiger a day on an average by habitat destruction, fragmentation and by illegal poaching for trade.

Despite of the initiative Project Tiger started in 1973, there has been a sharp decline in the tiger population by almost 60% mainly due to poaching.

We the undersigned wish to express that immediate measures are taken to end illegal poaching to save the Worlds favorite animal: tigers.
