The new principal at CSD is having the artwork along the hallways painted over with primer and white paint because he feels it "has no place in the educational process". This artwork has been done by CSD students over a period of several years. It contains motivational quotations, historical statements and words of wisdom by world known scholars, scientists, civic leaders and government leaders. As well, there are graphics that depict the local area, paintings of nature and wildlife, and of scientific and mathematic theorems and principles. Teachers have utilized the artwork in their lesson plans. We believe that removing the artwork which contains no vulgarities or obscenities is arbitrary, unreasonable and unacceptable. Students have stated they enjoy the art, appreciate the motivational statements and utilize various scenes as landmarks in making their way through the hallways. Teachers have utilized the artwork in their lesson plans. We believe that the principal has much to offer; however, his abilities and time can be better utilized to enhance the education of students and encourage better behavior and attitudes within the building.
