Comments: i first used the vulcan in the 60s and its such a old pub with so much character dating back to victorian times when cardiff was so different to the faceless city now being forced on us, we have lost so many of the really old pubs that have been demolished in the name of progress spelt "cash", the redhouse was the last the pantmawr and the vulcan next, the only place you will see these old pubs will be in books like cardiff yesterday. its about time cardiff council started doing what WE elected them to do and look after the city not destroy whats left of our heritage,so come on all you councillors stand up for your city and dont give in to big busiiness

Comments: progress well if you want cardiff to continue in its quest to become totally homogeneous with a filmset look go ahead , after all we can always be usefull to dr who or torchwood. please please city councillors think of what we are losing every time you replace a building that has character and history with yet another panini, tapas,or sushi bar.

Comments: I've been taking my Dad to this pub for 20 years and it'd be a real shame for the group of older men who love a good old pub, good old sing song etc. We try and get a few of us together there for a good old knees up a few times a year - they're a dying breed in Cardiff - SAVE IT!!

Comments: Possibly the last pub in the city centre with character and characters. Cardiff people should go in and feel for themselves the atmosphere a pub like The Vulcan creates.Use it or lose it!

Comments: There are few landmarks of old Cardiff left since the constant development and redevelopment of the City Centre. So many overseas visitors seek out the Vulcan for a taste of a real Cardiff pub why can't we value in this building. Long live the Vulcan !

Comments: Part of what made me want to settle down in Cardiff was the plethora of attractive historical buildings here. The Vulcan is one such gem that will continue to enrich the people and image of Cardiff into the future if it stay with us. Please don't make it into a carpark , these architectural treasures cannot be replaced!!

Comments: We talk about changing the drinking culture - but its not about culture, its about making money. If you are serious councillors then take a look at a pub where both ends of the age spectrum mix and meet and have a good time without 2 for 1 offers!!

Comments: I'm appalled that the Council would even consider knocking down such an old and wonderful building, aside from the fact it is a very popular place in the community. St David's 2 is already a huge development and has already knocked down half of Cardiff city centre.. do they really need this little bit of land! This proves to me that 'the powers that be' are only concerned with their profit, and not at all with the general well-being of Cardiff and its' inhabitants!

Comments: Cardiff seems intent on destroying it's own history. The idea that 'architectural merit' is the only reason for preserving a thriving pub is completely spurious given the total dearth of 'architectural merit' in most of the new buildings, in particular 'St David's 2'. The Vulcan is one of the few remaining proper pubs in town - we allowed the "Red House' to go . Please can we at least save The Vulcan
