Name: Peter Devine on Jul 16, 2008Comments: i first used the vulcan in the 60s and its such a old pub with so much character dating back to victorian times when cardiff was so different to the faceless city now being forced on us, we have lost so many of the really old pubs that have been demolished in the name of progress spelt "cash", the redhouse was the last the pantmawr and the vulcan next, the only place you will see these old pubs will be in books like cardiff yesterday. its about time cardiff council started doing what WE elected them to do and look after the city not destroy whats left of our heritage,so come on all you councillors stand up for your city and dont give in to big busiinessFlag

The Vulcan is one such gem that will continue to enrich the people and image of Cardiff into the future if it stay with us. Please don't make it into a carpark , these architectural treasures cannot be replaced!!Flag

Name: Kate Griffith on Sep 4, 2008Comments: I'm appalled that the Council would even consider knocking down such an old and wonderful building, aside from the fact it is a very popular place in the community. St David's 2 is already a huge development and has already knocked down half of Cardiff city centre.. do they really need this little bit of land! This proves to me that 'the powers that be' are only concerned with their profit, and not at all with the general well-being of Cardiff and its' inhabitants!Flag

Name: Louise Young on Sep 5, 2008Comments: Cardiff seems intent on destroying it's own history. The idea that 'architectural merit' is the only reason for preserving a thriving pub is completely spurious given the total dearth of 'architectural merit' in most of the new buildings, in particular 'St David's 2'. The Vulcan is one of the few remaining proper pubs in town - we allowed the "Red House' to go . Please can we at least save The VulcanFlag
