| 2202 | Colin Selby | My late father and mother ran the Vulcan in the 1950s so I have a sentimental attachment to it.
Saving it would also be at least a small victory against the Cultural Barbarians who are destroying our city.. |
| 2203 | Larry Shaw | I have used this pub for 10 years whenever i am in Cardiff for a sporting event or on business.
The staff are friendly & the Vulcan is a real genuine old fashioned pub. |
| 2204 | Anne Crowley | So few old pubs left in cardiff. Please leave this one alone. |
| 2205 | john crowley | the vulcan is probably the only authentic pub left in cardiff.
let the bingers have their noisy alcohol factories,
let the foodies have their gastro pubs,
but please, PLEASE, leave the vulcan, because you cannot replicate authenticity and it represents the old cardiff, the coal shipping port with local innexpensive beers, a lovely, friendly and unpretentious landlady in an atmosphere so perfect that grown men weep. |

| 2213 | chris james | Too much of Cardiff is being swept away supposedly in the name of progress, but this time for a car park?
Cardiff is a Victorian City and such classic gems as the Vulcan must be cherished for the future. The Cardiff planners must resist such attempts by so called developers and their quick-buck schemes. |
| 2214 | Sam Sharman | Good memories, fell in love with the barmaid |
| 2215 | REbecca Moorng (nee James) | If this goes so does so much history, my great grandparents drank here, long live Splott |
| 2216 | John James | LAST DAYS OF THE VULCAN
seeking anchorage in marshland at the margin of the city
pace beneath the railway bridge space opens out the gate
to Adamsdown before the gradient earth of Splott
grey swirls of rain and soot above the shiny blue-slate roofs of Ellen Street
beyond the viewpoint of the Upper Sixth on Courtenay Road
flames pour up the fading pallor of the evening sky
as Brother Columban offers eventide of gems at 3 o’clock
& dogged boys and men squeezed dry of acid reach with aching arms
cross the old footbridge for foaming amber sleeves
a flickering interior of older bearded men caps laid aside
this orange glow holds out where a thousand sparkled on a vein of steel
the sigh of the oppressed fades into luminous indigo outside
backdrop of rising corporate towers canicule & sweat are spoken of
in lapping voice & the flying arrow turns away from lively warmth
