Name: Damien Murphy on Apr 10, 2008Comments: As a relative new comer to Cardiff from Belfast, it was a delight to find this pub. It is a reminder of the Great Victoria Street pubs 'The Crown' and 'Robinsons.' Thoughtless planners on drawing boards decide futures of history and preservation of history. Where is CADW I'm not sure if this is their correct title, but they are supposed to preserve historical buildings for future generations to appreciate what their ancestors were capable of. The Vulcan is a gem of an establishment, worthy of preservation and indeed worthy of future plans the council have to attract tourists to Cardiff. Belfast has achieved this with the aforementioned pubs in similar circumstances and they have become tourist meccas in their own right. Before Cardiff shoots itself in the foot, join this campaign by spending time in one of the most historic buildings in the capital city of Wales.Flag

Name: Greg Willis on Apr 12, 2008Comments: We are too quick to get rid of old Cardiff landmarks that are valued by Cardiff people and would be valued by tourists and visitors alike - unlike the modern coorporate 'same' as every other city tat that replaces them.Flag

Name: J NICHOLAS on Apr 13, 2008Comments: I have been to the Vulcan on many occasions since 1964,the last time last year, and find that it still has a real pub feel. It is about the only one in the city centre left since all the rest have been modernised and have no character. Please save part of my heritage.Flag

Name: Dr D Jennings on Apr 21, 2008Comments: It is astonishing that anyone in authority could consider granting permission to demolish one of Cardiff 's oldest buildings, let alone one which has been a pub for over 150 years. It is such a pity that Cardiff seems hell-bent on destroying its wonderful Victorian architectural legacy and replacing it with cheap and nasty high-rise buildings. (Just compare the two sides of Churchill Way). Cardiff survived the worst of the hideous redevelopment mania of the 1960s and 70s, but is now catching up fast. It's a sad irony.Flag

Name: Jon Ratcliffe on Apr 26, 2008Comments: Best little pub in Cardiff and a piece of the social history of the city, too much of which is being lost to redevelpments. The landlady is hardworking and friendly and knows how to keep newcomers and locals happy. The pub seems to be enjoying a new lease of life with the student community. Which maybe shows that youngsters want more than the glitzy, characterless bars which dominate city centre drinking.Flag

Name: Neville Grundy on Apr 26, 2008Comments: I enjoyed my first-ever visit to Cardiff recently, including a visit to the Vulcan. I can't believe that an authentic local pub serving good beer is to be bulldozed, and can't see why it can't be a feature in any development, as has happened elsewhere.Flag

Great atmosphere as well on International days where many visiting fans also visit. Save the VulcanFlag

After the loss of so many traditional Cardiff boozers, taking teh Vulcan as well would be a step too far. Surely we can find some way to preserve itFlag
