| 7 | lynda Schneider Granatstein | This saddens me. I have had a rich and fulfilling student history within the Saidye's School of Fine Arts, and have benefitted enormously from becoming a teacher there. I believe my own students have been enriched as well. What a shame.... |
| 8 | al zigayer | Great School! Great Teachers! Cordial and professional staff at all levels. A wonderful and vitally dynamic 'safe' place to learn and "practice" visual arts for people of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. The closing of this Montreal "Institution" would be a terrible mistake and a loss for the entire community. |

| 16 | Joyce Morrison | The directors should be ashamed; this action is the equivalent of Alice Munro or Margaret Atwood,"We've read enough of your books. Go somewhere else. We want to spend our money on creating new video games." |

| 21 | KS Morrison | I am interpreting the method of closing this program; as accept our conclusions;we are smarter than you. Reminds me of the provincial liberals on demergers. |

| 23 | jennifer fletcher | This is such a highly respected art centre. I was a part-time student several years ago & loved it.
Where are teachers & students going to go?
This is terrible!
Who on earth is responsible for such a thoughtless decision? |

| 26 | David Fletcher | Saidye Bronfman Centre School of Fine Arts occupies a unique and indispensible place in the cultural fabric of Montreal. The loss of this treasure from Montreal's art scene would be truly tragic. I ask you to reconsider the decision to close the Fine Arts School. I am sure other Montrealers feel likewise. |
| 27 | Anne Michaud | Thank you Stewart ; we need more people like you ! |
| 28 | Nutan Khanna | I did jewelry courses at the Saidye for over 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed it! It would make me sad to know that others won't get the opportunity to experience that great environment and excellent courses the Saidye has to offer. |
| 29 | Dr.Earl Lerner | Grad. of School of Fine arts- printmaking. Super teachers, dedicated. School important for preservation and promotion of arts in Quebec and for vibrant and supportive Jewish community. |

| 33 | Anonymous | Please DON't close the School of Fine Arts at the Saidye. It has been an inspiration and joy to so many with the excellent programs. |

| 35 | Susan Glazer | This visual arts program has succeeded in inspiring people of all ages to develop their artistic talents. Surely this peaceful, creative and multicultural pursuit should be encouraged at a time when the world forces are so dark. |

Several institutions already exist encouraging performing arts. Visual arts are democratic, can be practised by everyone of all ages, all origins and all languages. The Saidye was a bilingual institution also creating links between French and English Montrealers. To whom will this change profit? Who do they want to create jobs for? Visual arts will live for longer than a performance! |
| 38 | Laura E. | It is really sad that more hasn't been done to keep this institute running. There is a need for non-academic art courses in this city! |
| 39 | Myrna Brooks Bercovitch | I am outraged with the lack of concern and information given by the media to our community. Ben's Deli and the spectrum were front page news ( and rightly so)- what about this ' the 'Saidye' for the 40 years of excellence and community contribution. In some families , such as ours, my grandchildren, my children, and I have all been students . It is a tradition and a right of passage that serious art students prepare for their entrance into art schools and universities.
I have been a teacher at the Saidye for over 25 years and have seen it grow and flourish with an inclusive mandate for people with special needs , cultures, and languages. It is this diversity that has always set it apart from most other institutions.
I am shocked at the silent reaction of students, communitry leaders, and the lack of respect given to the dedicated teachers who have remained and preformed in excellece through many trials and tribulations that occured over the years.
Where are our community leaders who so proudly visited our gallery, sent their children to learn, used our facillities for fund raising ? Are they aware that 80 plus faculty memebers were dismissed in one full swoop- or do they care?
What a shame! |
| 40 | Norman Morantz | Unfortunately, the closing wipes out the remarkable partnering and outreach the Jewish community had, through the SBC's art education program, with the greater community. |

| 44 | Anonymous | I don't approve of the decision made to close the Centre. It has been a very important part of the Montreal Arts scene for many years and should continue to be so. |

| 49 | Michelle Echenberg | I have been involved in the photography departmentof the Saidye for 18 years. There is no other facility in this city which offers such high class, open and informative services as The Saidye Bronfman CentreSchool of Fine Arts. Please, please, please don't close thid wonderful institution!!! |
| 50 | Roz Bakst Gross | The arts community in the school was never contacted for their input regarding the funding situation. This was strictly an administrative decision and a compromise could be worked out to save the school and improve the funding. The artists voices should be heard! |
