Name: Dave Smith on Feb 8, 2008Comments: A completely ludicrous suggestion. If clubs want to exploit potential foreign markets, they are free to do so in the off-season. In fact, the clubs for whom this would be lucrative have already done so for the last few years. But it can't be a compulsary measure. Roll on the time when the inevitable European Super League eventually kicks off. That is the only environment where this kind of thing could work. For now it serves to illustrate the cancer that is killing the game - the huge divide between the small minority of "big" clubs (4 in England, 2 in Scotland etc) which is gradually squeezing all the competition out of all major football club competitions. The only useful thing about this suggestion coming to light is to illustrate which club officials actually care about the fans in the communities their clubs are meant to represent.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 8, 2008Comments: Please, please stop pandering to the so called 'elite' top 4/5 clubs and start working towards the future of English football as a whole. It is a sad irony that the day after this latest grab for riches from the Premier League, yet another lower league club has had to go into administration. It's about time that the Premier League and the FA woke up and started to realise that there is more to English football than just the top 4 or 5 clubs..Flag

Name: Nick Axford on Feb 8, 2008Comments: Playing the extra game would be the death of English game. I'm not saying this as a little-Englander, I'm saying this as a passionate Brighton and Hove Albion supporter who doesn't want his beloved club to fall further behind the giants of the premier league. The idea is ridiculous and just further suggests to me that the game is not about football anymore, but just a way for already rich people to get even richer at the expense of hard-working fans.Flag

Name: Gavin Challand on Feb 8, 2008Comments: The proposal is evil and runs roughshod over the views of fans. It will destroy the authenticity and soul of the competition and put greater distance between the haves and have nots in our football family. It will also increase the number of games our players will have to play at a time when we should be looking to reduce the amount of pressure on them - there will be more injuries, more fatigue and worse football played as a result.. If we agreed with this sort of nonsense we'd follow American football.Flag

Name: Leighton Williams on Feb 8, 2008Comments: This is just so wrong. It goes completely against the idea of a national league. If teams want to become globetrotters, then withdraw from the English league system, the FA Cup, and give up your champions league place and then go globetrotting!Flag

Name: Rob Pearson on Feb 8, 2008Comments: How anyone can take these proposals seriously is beyond me. Aside from the obvious issue of money grabbing and turning the Premier League into a 'product,' can you not see the obvious implications of playing 1 extra game This destroys the entire fair structure of the league - that being every team plays every other team once away and once at home.Flag
