We have set up this campaign petition to change the legislature, and prevent British Fishermen from legally shooting the Grey Seal. We aim to collate 1,000,000 signatures, and when we reach our goal, we will take this petition straight to Parliament, and put pressure on the Government to change the legislature and make it illegal for the Grey Seal to be shot in England, Scotland & Wales. Some British Fishermen state that the Grey Seal steal some of their catch, and rightly so this statement is true. However what some British Fishermen do not seem to grasp is that there are methods to work along side the seal, and they do not just simply need to be shot. This is animal cruelty and it needs to be avoided at all costs. In Northern Ireland & The Isle of Man seal shooting has been made illegal, and now the rest of the UK needs to follow suit. The Grey Seal is very valuble to the British Eco-System, and causes no harm to wildlife or humans. They are genetically gentle mammals, who have no quarms in approaching humans, simply because they naturally trust them. Like the British Fishermen the Grey Seal needs to get its catch in order to survive. We simply want to stop the shooting of seals, FULL STOP and work closely with British Fishermen to find new methods for tackling such problems that occur.
