Name: Dsn Smith on Jan 25, 2010Comments: It is necessary for there to be a full airing of Kathy Chittum's actions in regard to Jason Garnett (and the actions of others within the system who may have contributed) before the board because there some serious moral and ethical questions involved. The Grandin is a fragile non-profit that cannot withstand a scandal and I urge you to clear up this issue for people who have supported the Grandin for years.Flag

Name: Lee Journell on Jan 25, 2010Comments: i think that the heading says it all... its really, REALLY sad that kathy has gone for so long unchecked. if she is hiding information from the board members about any/all decisions about the grandin. what else does she feel entitled to hide?? and what else is she hiding? how sad..... With Kathy Chittum as Executive Director of the Grandin Theatre, the theater is in a physical and financial decline due to mismanagement and is not fulfilling its promise to the community. This petition is to request that the Grandin Theatre Foundation's full Board of Directors investigate the allegations of mismanagement and unethical behavior of the theatre's executive director, Kathy Chittum. We request the full board of directors interview past and present employees/board members, local business owners, advertisers and partners of the theatre and foundation in order to create a fair and balanced assessment of Mrs. Chittum's performance and behavior as the Executive DirectorFlag

Name: Parker Gard on Jan 25, 2010Comments: The Grandin has always been so much more than a business. In fact, at times, it doesn't do much business at all. But it has thrived because of what it offered us. Not only a place to see movies, but a place to connect, to commune, to work, to engage with each other and the arts, a place to relax, a place to rely on. My concerns surround solely the leadership, programming and decision making skills of Ms. Chittum and her ability to continue to provide what is so unique to that of the Grandin. I feel certain that if the Grandin is to be run as a "business", that it will fail; and that would be such a great tragedy to Roanoke.Flag

Name: Greg Aldridge on Jan 25, 2010Comments: Biz and I went to Kathy 4 years ago and asked if we could promote the theater by producing a television progam to review the films and talk about coming events. We bought airtime on TV to broadcast it. We did not ask for or recieve any funds from the theater to pay for anything. It was called the Grandin Film Review. Kathy asked me at that meeting, "How much are you going to pay the theater?" There is a 3 1/2 year story of Kathy's mismanagement based on my personal experience that follows. If you have a first hand story, go to www.SaveTheGrandin.org and follow the link to sending in your story. Please! The Theater needs you.Flag

I have made three photo shows at the theater in the past, and Jason was there to support me, so I support him this time.Flag

Name: Robert Capper on Jan 26, 2010Comments: This is to great of a community asset to entrust in to the hands of a poorly managed board. Having presided over both well-functioning and malfunctioning boards I would urge an evaluation of the current governance policies of the sitting board. I would suggest a review and the possible implementation of John Carver's Policy Governance. It is an outcome based structure that ensures accountability to the group the board should be serving and provides for an effective method of monitoring. ThanksFlag
