Peter McDonaldThe Dunlap Obseratory is a Canadian Heritage site and if it isn't it should be.
Bob Martindale
James GortThis is an important scientific and cultural site for Canada. It is irreplaceable. Let's not lose it! If necessary, sell shares in the site to raise the funds.
AnonymousI think its disgraceful that a leading institute in education would do something like this.
VivianSomething so precious for the history of scientific discovery as well as for the future should not be torn down so easily.

AnonymousIt's disappointing to see that the university is deserting someone who has offered so much to the community. The observatory has so much historical value and should not be given up to the highest bidder.
Maxim SizintsevDestroying this landmark would indicate that Toronto is yet another place in this cold world where greed is king. This whole mess is one of the reasons I didn't apply to U of T. Clearly it doesn't show any real concern for the future generations. This would be a dark stain the university will never wash off.

Keith NabloAll Land and building should be left in tact,
Rob BarghoutI remember visiting it as a kid, and would like my daughter to be able to do the same.
AnonymousI'm a PhD student in engineering at the University of Toronto. As a child, I visited the observatory and was inspired by the equipment and the celestial views. Sad to see the university is turning its back on such a wonderful scientific legacy. Hopefully the government can intervene to declare much of the land a heritage site, in spite of the land having been already purchased for development.

AnonymousThis historically significant Observatory and the surrounding lands need to be preserved for present and future generations. Shame on the University!
Harley MillerWe should conserve this land as a sanctuary for displaced animals due to housing construction and we should preserve the historic significance of the observatory.
Duncan Zheng
Robin WalkerOur faith in the intent of the local government has already come in to question, since houses started littering the moraine. Please don't destroy the last vestige of nature in Richmond Hill.
Debbie WiltonI remember visiting this observatory as a high school student over 30 years ago. It blew me away. Let's not pave paradise.
AJ Malenfant
Yohan FerreiraHope the sale can be revoked and the site preserved!
AnonymousPlease keep the observatory.. please
Valentino Visentiniplease save the DDO and the surrounding woodlands!
Andrew GissingWhere is our heritage going - to developers wanting to make the next dollar? Travel to Japan, Europe, Asia and tell me what do you see - you see culture and tradition. An aspect North America is destroying for the advancement of greed and personal, not communial, wealth. Wealth at the expense of what defines us as Canadians, whether great or small.
zejna NeimanI hope to continue visiting The Observatory for many years to come,The preservation of Canadian heritage and its wild life is essential for today and for future generations!

Anonymoussave the tree as much as you can. so we can breeze air...
AnonymousWe should save the DDO because it is a historical site. I was a student who visited there last June. I think that the DDO should be saved because many of the old telescopes were fascinating to see. This should be saved for the future generation. I also think that the DDO should be saved because there are many deer and other wildlife living on the land. If we destroy the land, the animals would loose their home.

DJ Loverock"Our heritage tells us who we are, where we have come from and what we have accomplished. It is a source of strength and confidence that puts the changes of society into perspective and helps us to build a better future." Ministry of Culture....help us preserve our heritage. This is a beautiful part of history right in heart of the GTA!
Patrick Merlihanliving about 6 blocks away, the observatory is the place i go to get away from the busy lives of the richmondhillians. it's full of nature, and takes any ideas out of my head just by taking a walk in the forsest. THERE IS NO WAY THEY ARE GOING TO TEAR ALL THE BEUTIFUL LIFE THAT EXISTS AT THIS PLACE. PLZ PLZ SAVE!
AnonymousThe value of the Observatory is beyond the money. The fact that was overlooked by many people who could prevent its sale.
james coishyes save the observatory . send the builders elseware and get rid of the councilers who keep trying to get rid of it .
AnonymousBoycott any development by Metrus Development on the DDO land!
Darlene ClarkWhere are all of the wildlife going to go when they start to tear up that land?
Constantin BucataruThe David Dunlap Observatory is part of our national heritage. To destroy it would be a grave crime !
Jamie LillPlease don’t destroy a piece of Canada history. Do we really need more houses? How much more money does Metrus need do the right thing and donate back to the Government. The goverment must then give equal value in tax credits back to Metrus

AnonymousOne of my major concerns is for the wildlife is this area. Where are they to go? This is also a Heritage Site and should remain a park or Provincial Park.
