2655 AnonymousProgress isn't defined solely by erecting buildings. Keeping an observatory and natural habitat for animals close to downtown is a unique feature for a city. Think of the tourists it can draw in or its use in Outdoor Education. Outdoor Education Assistant

2658 colleenPoor deer they've just got no where to go anymore...can't we have a little green space in the city..???? Every time we go by there we look for deer. One day we saw a coyote in the field. I'd like to think that we can preserve a little bit of nature without having to travel and hour or so out of the city to see a field and plott of trees.
2659 Roger J A DuthieI have to be completely honest and say that I am not a Canadian national -though I support the petition and it's aims wholly.

2672 reginaI am sick of this happening so much
2673 WendyHow surprised was I to find it might be closing, just when I wanted my son to it this summer. What a disappointment.

2676 Vince TramazzoI've lived in Tucson, Arizona, for several years. We are surrounded by four major working observatories. Supposedly, we are the astronomy capital of the US. Land developers are coming in, buddying up with town couselors to revamp the desert. The light pollution is becoming a serious problem. Isn't anything sacred anymore?????

2678 Shahzad Qureshiwhy is everything on sale in Canada? The largest telescope in Canada is on sale and I am disappointed that not many ppl care or even know about it. If this was U.S. or Europe, there would've been a huge outcry. Very disappointing UFT. I sincerely hope that the university changes its mind. its not always about making money

2682 Trudi Newbury"Progress is just bad things happening faster." ~Granny Weatherwax. Short-sighted, self-centred behaviour can no longer be considered an acceptable trait in our species, not even by those who, knowing better, still insistent on carving out a piece of the rapidly-diminishing pie. In the context of our plant, we should understand that we are not “slightly-less-than-the-angels”, but more like uppity mammals.
2683 s.robertsI was under the impression that the land and buildings were donated to richmond hill/university of toronto to be preserved as land for the use of citizens and not sold or split up.is there any way for this land and other preserved sites to be saved from the wreckers ball??

2687 Steve AdairGrew up in Toronto, and this was one of my favourite spots, being an astronomy buff, and a member of the R.A.S.C. Many pleasant memories of taking my kids there. Closing this facility is UNTHINKABLE! *Please*..re-consider!
2688 AnonymousThis is sad.
2689 Glen HowiePlease, please do NOT sell this land.

2691 Paul G. ShawYet another reason to not regret moving to Montreal from Toronto nearly 30 years ago. I remember visiting the Observatory as a child. I took my M.A. at U. of T., but actions like this on the part of the University make it look just a bit tarnished; I do hope they will reverse their stand on this ill-conceived project.

2700 Professor Paul ElliottRead Richard Louv's book "Last Child in the Woods" to understand why spaces such as this need preserving. The observatory itself has great potential as a hand-on science centre to encourage the next generation of scientists.
