| 101 | stanley Black | Are we going to let crofting decline in Scotland the way we let our fishing fleets disapear.
We want to have sottish breed beef on our plate in years to come |

Philip Gilmour | This measure is a penny pinching and ultimately very damaging exercise. It reflects a lack of understanding of the fragility of crofting in H&I. Longer term impact will be to harm incomes and sustainability of H&I livliehoods costing the tax payer more - not less.
Christine Gilmour | The SNP are damaging a way of life to make short term savings. The longer term financial costs will be much higher in addition to the further eradication of a valuable part of Scottish life. Crofters existence is already precarious and this measure ensures that these pressures are increased. Shame on the SNP.

Joyce Wilkinson | Losing the bullscheme will heap another disadvantage onto the struggle to keep active Crofting alive. Cattle numbers will decrease dramatically from the Highlands and Islands.

Colin MacDonald | As grazing clerk for an active township we feel that the Bull Hire Scheme is essential and will retain cattle numbers in the West Highlands and Islands. Without it the cattle will go and within a few years incentives will be offered to bring the cattle back. This will be expensive. Invest now by retaining the Bull Hire Scheme.
Ian G. Macdonald | The Bull Scheme is very important in retaining cattle on croft land in Scotland. It is vital that we stop the loss of farm animals from our hills. This country may soon be crying out for freerange quality food and it will be almost impossible to reverse the situation if crofters lose heart.
Duncan Fraser | I have just got my first cows on the croft and had been banking on being able to use the Bull Hire Scheme, If it is disbanded can you sujest what my options are as i would not be viaible for me to get a bull
Susanna Robson |
Bob Pratley | I think that the government should REALLY examine their motivation for removing the bull hire scheme, they should LISTEN to the real keepers of a very special way of life, and UNDERSTAND that this way of life will disappear forever if not supported. remember CROFTING - LIFE, FOR ALL THE FAMILY!
Brian Smith | Is this yet another attempt to make it impossible for rural communities to flourish ? Profit margins are wafer thin or do not even exist. Making Crofters buy a bull to grow calves will see the end of beef production on crofts, and the end of some of the best beef on this planet. Keep the bull scheme, keep crofting alive, keep the Highlands and Islands populated by working people not just seasonal visitors.
Kirsty MacLeod | The decision to end the bull hire scheme is yet another discriminatory measure against crofters.
Campbell MacLeod |
Donald Murdie | The ignorance and prejudice of Edinburgh-based civil servants must not be allowed to destroy something of real value. "A price on everything and a value on nothing."
