Name: Michael Herndon on Feb 12, 2008Comments: I hold a master's in architectural history and theory from Georgia Tech, and will soon receive a master's in Business Administration from Tech (spring, '08). While I realize that there are conflicting views on the Buckhead library, the structure has been met with great critical acclaim. Our stance, as citizens, should be aesthetically-minded, conservative, and pragmatic--if we tear the building down, and we are wrong, no one can repair our error. If we save the building, we can always decide to tear it down after time has evaluated its merits. If current trends continue, the land in Buckhead will grow more valuable with time, not less. Therefore, as citizens, we should fight to preserve the library. Should it be judged worthless by future architects and architectural theorists, we can destroy the building and build on the spot. Should it be judged beautiful, insightful or artistic, we will be judged prescient for our insight. I urge you to preserve the library for the foreseeable future.Flag

Name: Felix Hu on Feb 12, 2008Comments: The Buckhead library and its designers are celebrated and praised by a national and international community. For it to exist in Atlanta is a very positive thing. To tear it down would be a detriment to the work that the city has done and is continuing to do to bring itself into a broader cultural arena beyond just the South.Flag
