The petition

This fine Victorian public house, nestling off the high street,in Alum Rock, Birmingham, has fed and watered the locals for over 129 years.

It's first gaffer was a pearl button maker.

The famous Ozzy Osbourne, lived locally in Aston and may well have used this gem of a pub, in the 1960's.

During World War 2, it was blitzed and suffered considerable damage.

It did not stop serving for one day and changed it's name from the Havelock Arms to the Havelock Tavern.

The pub changed hands last March and unfortunately the gaffer was not allowed to bid for it.

The present owners want to demolish it and build cramped housing.

Alum Rock is a very densley populated part of the city of Birmingham and this pub is a key building in it's street.

Over the road there are some fine grade listed houses.

The local community have rallied round to save the pub and have already collected hundreds of signatures on a paper petition.

It is very much a viable business, putting at least a hundred pounds a day in the tills of a local taxi company, besides sourcing it's services locally to the benefit of many fine enterprises in Alum Rock.

Eleven pubs have gone in the local area and this is a loss to far.

If you love the city of Birmingham and desire to help this Victorian Jewel, please sign this petition and help save the Havelock Tavern.
