Recently, the US Supreme Court ruled eight(8) to one(1) that an officer of the law is no longer required to obtain a search warrant before entering a building, searching a premises, or taking evidence. In the past, an officer was required to have a valid search warrant before entering, unless their were sounds of distress coming from within. The warrant was required to specifically state the place being searched and items/persons being seized. In the new ruling, an officer may forcefully enter the house, without a warrant, and seize anything if said officer believes evidence is being destroyed. This can range from the sound of movement to a toilet flush.
