Name: Faugerat Christian on Aug 9, 2009Comments: It is a share opinion. In Tahiti fishermen strongly reacted to the construction of the project. They go fishing on the wathers around the island because there is no more fish around Tahiti and Moorea. They have been there for many years , respected the place and where furious when they saw the engine on the reef. Also birds nesting and growing in Tetiaroa are important to them , because they help locating school of fish, Most of the birds in this area come from Tetiaroa , there habitas and population disappeared in Tahiti and Moorea. Also the hotel project is higly elitist, this island should be open to every one. It creates frustration and segregation in a country where there is sharing tradition. The negative impacts goes beyond ecological effects.Flag

Name: Aline Barber on Aug 9, 2009Comments: We agree with the above petition and would also like to add there should be a height restriction (maybe no higher then a "palm tree"..and must be lovely..the project must adapt to the land not the opposite. This is an opportunity to set a precidence..raise the bar..Tetiaroa is special..also with global warming and the raising of the ocean levels all the issues above are magnified. Also as energy independent as possible. Thankyou...Flag

Name: J. Alan Trepl on Aug 9, 2009Comments: The people of French Polynesia and France should come together to preserve and protect Tetiaroa, This would not only show the world community that the living corals can survive civilizations onslaught, but in addition honor Marlon Brando and put his soul to rest. Respectfully, Alan TreplFlag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 9, 2009Comments: History has proved that those who do the wrong thing are remembered far longer than those who do the right thing - for hundreds of years even. I guess those who want to make a quick buck want to go down in history as destroyers of one of the last vestiges of an unequaled marine ecosystem, which the whole world could have learned from through observation and preservation forever. The aspiring developers have chosen to be infamous rather than famous, and have missed the chance of a lifetime to do something good for the whole world. Shame on you France. Shame on you Richard Bailey. The money you receive from this project will come with bad karma...Flag
