Comments: The Government and the council are supposed to encourage sports and swimming with the approaching Olympic Games, I fail to see how closing Temple Cowley will achieve their objectives.

Comments: This is a central location. Moving the pool to the Leys will just increase the need to use a car all the time. Crickey its not that old for gods sake!

Comments: Two of my children have learnt to swim at that pool. What a shame to make it even harder for children in the catchment area to learn to swim.

Comments: This is an important community resource and to relocate to Temple Cowley would be unfeasible for many people like myself who are within walking distance and do not have easy access to transport.

Comments: It is important for the city to have a swimming pool that the people of East Oxford can get to without a car. Temple Cowley is easy for a lot of people to reach on foot or by bike which is particularly useful a family. Blackbird Leys already has a swimming Pool.

Comments: The present location could hardly be bettered for east Oxford people who need _local_ non-car-epenent facilities. There is no convincing justification for scrapping it - leave it alone!

Comments: this is so short sighted!to close this facility, no wonder we are turning into a nation of overweight, unfit couch potatos when councils take away local sports facilities.

Comments: This is a facility I use myself regularly-it does need a major refurbishment but more importantly it needs to remain accessible to the Cowley Road, Ifley Road and all surrounding areas. If this moves beyond the ring road it will be out of reach for many people and less convenient for those who strugle to motivate themselves. I myself find having such a facility on my doorstep encourages me to use it more regularly -if I have to battle with buses and traffic I would be less inclined to get off my backside. You will find that I am not alone in this.

Comments: Temple Cowley Swimming pool is the only site in Oxford that has a public sauna and steam room. I repeat: 1 small sauna and 1 samll steam room for the whole of Oxford that is not in an overpriced private health club, i.e. open to ALL people at affordable prices. This in itself is utterly shameful for a world renouned city as Oxford, caliming to be part of the developing world. But,having said that, as a regular user I am so grateful that we have at least this facility. An alternative at Blackbird Leys is too far East. I therefore make a pledge for: Temple Cowley Swimming Pools to stay exactly where it is. That money is being invested for necessary refurbishment, to make Temple Cowley a place of pride and centrality, available for ordinary people, not just the middle classes who can afford posh clubs. I will go to Andrew Smith and talk to him about it and I will get my contacts at the Oxford Mail and Bill Heine activated if necessary in order to campaign for this. Any more cuts on the front of health leisure is frankly irresponsible and outmoded past century British thinking and a shameful aliby for Oxford city Council. Please take the mainenance of health in our society a top priority. Thank you for listening Gaby Hock Psychotherapist UKCP Acupuncturist BAcC Lecturer

Comments: It is important to keep facilities in Cowley. There are enough houses in Cowley and Blackbird Leys to justify both pools. Competitive swimming clubs should be encouraged.

Comments: Temple Cowley seems to me a frequently used pool. It could certainly do with a refurbishment and, because it seesm to be so well used, expenditure on improving the facilities there would be well justified.
