Comments: As a descendant of the Irish race, I strongly urge the government of Ireland not to bow to the corporate pressure that wants a transport route. Compromising the historic site of Tara would only be seen as an act of extreme vandalism by the world, and future generations will judge the Irish government as we judge those who destroyed the great library of ancient Alexandria. Tara is our critical international symbol, let’s not lose it!

Comments: I received a blessing at this site from a godess type figure whom I saw. I therefore deem it is a sacred place, especially with its quite remakable past. Who knows what the future brings too, as I am convinced this site could well be a vital cog in a new epoch for mankind that does not include the use of the automobile-so why build a road through a wondrous valley like this. It does not make sense to the sprit, only to the pockets of the corporate companies and indolent car drivers.

Comments: UNESCO, The complete failure of our Environment Minister to protect Tara, a site of national, historical and of course emotional significance to the Irish people, is a huge concern, even in times of great economic trouble. The Hill of Tara represents our heritage, history, and our roots. It is quite shocking that a government can completely override the wishes of an entire nation by placing not one, but two motorways over a landscape which, archaeologists claim, extends further than the boudaries of the Hill itself. I believe that as a student of history in Ireland, I represent a huge majority of young people who are angry and upset that these plans may cause grave damage to a world-reknowned site. The Hill of Tara not only represents Irish heritage, but a pre-Christian past which has links over and outside of Europe. 70% of Irish people have actively said that they support the Save Tara campaign- this does not mean that 30% do not! Their silence is merely an example of the feeling of defeat experienced when dealing with campaigns and action programmes- if our Environment sector ignores our wishes, there is little else we can do. I believe this is why we appeal to you on behalf the campaign to save Tara. Since our government has decided to ignore the clear wishes of the people it supposedly represents, we hope that they will listen to an external voice. Best wishes, Sharon Burke

Comments: We can't destroy a sacred site consciously. Thanks thinking to Earth and Beyond. Governements have no abilities to say wich site can live and which can die. Otherwise they are killers with one mind: asserve and control. Don't want a nuclear site to pray, thanks

Comments: Once destroyed, this landscape and the connection to our ancestors will be lost forever, to build a road where in thirty years cars and petrol as we know it ,may be defunct, seems the work of greed and insanity.

Comments: I believe that the withdrawal of funding to a program that does such good as that of UNESCO is unconscionable and that the USA has a moral obligation to restart funding immediately.
