Sorry for the long time between blog posts. With the holiday weekend last weekend, and some other things I had going on, I had to push blogging to the back burner for a little bit. But even though I took a break so to speak from the petition and the Save SWG movement, I did get some things done that I hope will work out for us all moving forward.Firstly, I purchased the domain saveswg.org and it is currently online. It is still a work in progress but it is a start. It is my hope that our effort to save the game can be HQ'd via this website. But this isn't all about me, and I am looking towards those interested in saving SWG to help me out with projects I have for the website to better help our case.Ten Ton Hammer posted a nice article about saving SWG on their site recently You can read it below at the link.http://www.tentonhammer.com/reloading/2011/july/5The media blitz continues as we are in contact with several media outlets still trying to...

I have taken what I believe is the next step in the effort to save Star Wars Galaxies. I can not release any other information at this time, but for those of you that are interested in saving SWG, I think you will be pleased. Once I have things prepared and am ready, I will release what it is I have done, and plan to do.Stay positive!Jason SwiftakaHostel Bant

In the last two days, this petition has been mentioned in various news reports. Sony Online Entertainment has recognized this petition via their official forums, and through the media. As the drafter of this petition, and a spokesperson for those that have signed, I would like to take a few minutes to address the comments made by Sony Online Entertainment, and to also address several issues I take with their enforcement of their forum guidelines.http://venturebeat.com/2011/06/28/sony-crushing-player-petition/This is a link to a Venturebeat article citing Sony Online Entertainments locking down of threads that pertain to the petition. Sony Online Entertainment's Forum Rules regarding petitions reads as follows:"Polling/Petitioning – The creation of petitions or polls for the purpose of game changes without approval from SOE are not permitted in SOE communications channels."(http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?topic_id=1202166)In the Venturebeat article...

This was a post from the Official Save Star Wars Galaxies Facebook that I wanted to share. It was written by Gaby Carlson and it is re-posted here with her permission. I think it sums up very well how the subscriber base feels about this title being closed. We are not your typical gamers. We are not a commodity. But if you look at the recent decision by Lucasarts to shut down Star Wars Galaxies, you might be inclined to think we are both of those things. Lucasarts thinks that we are a non-perishable commodity that can be shoved into a shipping crate and moved down the road to their next project. That is not the case. Not even close. We are a vibrant community. We have seen our ups and downs, but we are only stronger because of it. We have endured all manner of broken promises and misleading "improvements" to this game, and throughout all of it, we have continued to build our community, and show support and loyalty to this great game. But we didn't do it because of a game. We...

A lot of you have been messaging me either via Facebook, and in the game, asking me how you can help spread the word about the petition. Several have asked, "Who can I contact?" Well, I am writing this blog post to help with that. The first thing I want to ask of EVERYONE that reads this. When you correspond with any organization, whether it's news, video game news, web related, or what have you, professionalism and courteousness is key. Also, proper sentence structure and grammar are a must. If you wish to be taken seriously by who it is you are addressing, you have to have control of yourself. So no ALL CAPS RAGE EMAILS ABOUT HOW OMG THEY ARE SHUTTING DOWN OUR GAME!!!! And no emails where it is impossible to tell where one sentence starts and the next one begins because there is no punctuation marks of any kind that just gets confusing and doesn't look good at all.Clear, concise and to the point messages will convey our case...

Wow!Seems a lot of you feel the same way I do. Over 1300 signatures in just over 24 hours. This petition has started off pretty good I think, but there is still a long ways to go. And there is a long way to go until December. I urge everyone that signs this petition to also share it with anyone and everyone that you think might sign it, whether they play Star Wars Galaxies or not.I also urge you to share the petition link on any and all websites and forums you frequent, so long as the posting of such links is permitted by that host's terms of service. SOE has already locked several threads on the SWG boards for posting this link, which I think is a shame since we're basically asking them to take our money. However, I urge also that you all correspond to Sony Online Entertainment and Lucasarts directly and let them know exactly how you feel regarding their announcement. I hope to be able to provide that information to you.I've also mentioned...
