Comments: Staff at the creche and nursery do a marvellous job and have made Sussex University creche and nursery an incredibly special place.

Comments: This creche is an essential service for staff and students at the university. It needs to be expanded rather than closed: longer opening hours and the inclusion of lunchtimes (in line with the vast majority of private creches) would be welcomed by the users. The childcare staff are without exception excellent. The university should be supporting and extending the creche and advertising this service with pride as a key feature of the family-friendly element of the campus. If the nursery closes, the university can no longer legitimately advertise itself as family-friendly at all.

Comments: The childcare at Sussex is excellent and was a major reason for me turning down a well-paid job and instead applying for a post-doc to continue at Sussex after my PHD. This has brought around £40K into the University over 2 years, which is income they would not otherwise have received.

Comments: Same old story; those at the top on exorbitant salaries mismanage their budgets, those at the coalface are removed to address the shortfall.

Comments: The university should not sacrifise quality childcare for children of the next generation. Other areas should be cut for cost saving purposes.
