Name: Maureen Arrowsmith on Nov 29, 2009Comments: This creche is an essential service for staff and students at the university. It needs to be expanded rather than closed: longer opening hours and the inclusion of lunchtimes (in line with the vast majority of private creches) would be welcomed by the users. The childcare staff are without exception excellent. The university should be supporting and extending the creche and advertising this service with pride as a key feature of the family-friendly element of the campus. If the nursery closes, the university can no longer legitimately advertise itself as family-friendly at all.Flag

Name: Lyndsay McLean Hilker on Nov 29, 2009Comments: The childcare at Sussex is excellent and was a major reason for me turning down a well-paid job and instead applying for a post-doc to continue at Sussex after my PHD. This has brought around £40K into the University over 2 years, which is income they would not otherwise have received.Flag
