3251 THIERRY DETAILLEHead of distribution Ventes-CBA/WIP-SalesOne of the most brilliant international documentary slot worldwide, and probably the one most open to international coproduction, input and diversity in UK's public service. A gate-keeper action and a networking capacity from its initiators which gives a quality name to the BBC, and inspiration to many producers in Europe. What a pity for documentary people, professionnals or audience, to loose it!
3252 TON OKKERSEMAN DIRECTORit's a rare slot, sort of 'last frontier' for the real public service feature doc. PLEASE do not touch . . thank you
3253 Lindsay PollockIndependent Film MakerPeople who understand the unique importance of documentary film should be furious and perplexed at the proposed cuts. The BBC management are an absolute disgrace with no appreciation of the responsibility they have to protect and promote cultural assets like 'Storyville'. They've revealed themselves as philistine bean-counters puffed up on their own empty-headed, swaggering arrogance. £2.2 million was itself a paltry, derisory sum. I am sick to my stomach at this foul, acrid, treacherous move. Damn those people, I wish they'd give themselves a 60% cut in the neck.

3261 Boris MiticDribbling PicturesStoryville is an unmistakable reference for quality author-driven docs and a great inspiration for both viewers and filmmakers. The BBC is aggressively selling its dull, format-led, "general audience" animal or history docs all over the world at dumping prices, thus driving audiences away from true creative documentaries and jeopardizing the prospects of local doc production, since most TV stations find it cheaper and easier to acquire ready-made programs than to produce original ones. Ironically, the same thing seems to be happening at BBC with Storyville. A shame.

3270 Joost van Loonmanaging DirectorThere are hardly any slots left where people who want to form their own oppinion and want to do their own thinking can find 'food for thought'.
3271 Michael Haslund-ChristensenComm. editor Danish Film InstituteTo reduce more format-led programming and schedule-led commissioning projects, it's important to save the few brands in Television like Storyville. Also to strengthen the additional funding needed for grander projects.
3272 Arunas MatelisProducer/DirectorEven though global warming is incredibly important issue currently, the diaries of humanistic discoveries, our collective experience and also a possibility to understand one-self and others is incredibly important too. Especially having in mind, how affective the form of communication documentary is. STORYVILLE as a part of a very important media channel, is that source. The source which allows people/audience for 2 hours to experience a vibration of soul that would be impossible otherwise even in a decade. Diminishing the possibilities of the source will only take out the experience from the audience that is as important as life itself.

3286 Dumisani PhakathiProducer-Short Ends PicturesThe problems of the world result mainly from ignorance, which then leads to all sorts of ism's. Storyville is one of the few places in our "ignorant" world that facilitates real dialogue between the all the diverse people of the world. Budgets come and go, great films are forever. DO THE RIGHT THING.
3287 Boris PavlovicSenior Software Developer, Youngculture AGDon't let BBC shot itself in the foot. Without programs like Storyville BBC will loose it's authority amongst people all over the world truly interested in other people's lives
