Name: Briaan Alderman on Apr 30, 2012Comments: The actions of the city council not only compromise the folks who live and visit the area that Sta 5 directly covers, but it also puts all local area folks at risk by reducing the overall number of engines and equipment available to mitigate any incident in the greater Chico area.Flag

Comments: It is absolutely ludicrous that one of the areas at highest risk for fires in the Chico area is losing what would be its primary response during an emergency. During the summer months, Upper Park is a highly frequented area for hiking, swimming, biking and more... each with inherent risks for injury. By removing this fire station, we are effectively telling those interested in leading a healthy and active lifestyle that we do not value their safety. Every minute during a potentially life-threatening injury matters, and this move would significantly increase response time for such injuries and situations.Flag -

Taber on May 1, 2012Comments: All avenues of expenditure reduction should have been first explored via the Finance Committee meeting(s) and then upon their recommendation taken to the full City Council for discussion/acceptance prior to putting this closure into effect. Any adverse event due to this closure will surely result in a lawsuit which could cost the City of Chico taxpayers millions of dollars.Flag
