Name: Angie Fowler on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98444Comments: The sprinker rec,. center needs to stay open. Children around the area need a place to go to hang out and have fun. If you close it, where will the kids go? The spanaway / parkland area doesnt have any where for these kids. If they dont have somewhere to go chances are more kids will be getting in trouble. So get it right, and find a solution to keeping Sprinker open.Flag

Name: Pat Block on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98373Comments: I played in the first Daffodil Tennis Tournament held at Sprinker in 1978 and have been active at the facility for more than 30 years. As the Sprinker Tennis Director, I have had the pleasure of helping junior, adult and senior players learn to play the great game of tennis and develop into lifelong players. Over the past 13 years our Sprinker Tennis program has impacted the lives of thousands. We have been fortunate to watch hundreds of our juniors develop into champion players. Several of our players have been ranked #1 in the USA. With the recent resurfacing of our indoor courts, Sprinker is now a premier tennis facility for Pierce County. It provides the ONLY PUBLIC INDOOR tennis courts between Seattle and Vancouver, WA. Sprinker Recreation Center is vital to our community and is well worth fighting to save!Flag

Name: Sally Leatham on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98332Comments: Taking away a safe place for kids(families to come with many programs to choose from) is big mistake. In 1998 I attended a meeting held at Spinker & were shown several designs to vote on for renovation. What happened to that? I think if the roof was replaced now. Sprinker could go on. So many jobs will be lost. I know there is a way to keep Sprinker going. Put Sprinker on the top of their priority list. It is thier turn. Think of the families that use Sprinker now where will they go in Pierce county.Flag

Name: John Lui on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98004Comments: To close a fitness facility when most children are in need of physical activity and exercise is absurd. We should be promoting fitness and spend money there, not close it down. No wonder the children of America are unhealthy and spend all their time indoors playing video games. We need to take a look at Tualitin Hills in Beaverton, OR. Their facility there is top notch and it attracts people from out of state to compete there by generating income for the facility. I know Nike is there but they also need the general public to support it.Flag

Name: Diana G on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98387Comments: This is ridiculous - you are charging to get into parks, got rid of garbage cans and fired a bunch of staff, charge people on the bus line (even if you dont ride a bus) a fee on tabs and now this!! Let Peirce County officials (all of them) take a day (or two) off w/o pay -and with ALL that money use it to fix SPRINKER REC - SAVE SPRINKER REC!!Flag

Name: Darrel Leimback on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98597Comments: This facility is a one of a kind public resource that provides a unique service to kids and adults throughout Pierce and Thurston counties. They are one of the top USTA tennis facilities in the area and because of their public nature they offer tennis opportunities to players that would otherwise not be able to participate in the sport because of the cost to join private clubs. Whatever can be done to save this community and county resource needs to be a top priority for elected officials,Flag

Name: Linda Ross, PhD on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code: 98042Comments: Sprinker's programs account for over 60% of Pierce County's P&R revenues. It is NOT just about a few upset figure skaters. Yes, the skating program is nationally recognized and skaters from ALL OVER THE WORLD come to skate with us, including skaters from Japan, the Phillipines, and Finland, but it's more than that. Hockey and tennis players, speed skaters, and fitness enthusiasts who use the facility are also compromised, never mind all the employees who work there and any other kids who may have had dreams of learning to skate or becoming the next Venus Williams. Renovate yes, but complete closure would be a foolish decision.Flag

Name: Kathleen Martin on Jun 30, 2010Zip Code:Comments: Please don't let Sprinker Recreation Center close. This facililty is a valuable part of our community especially in this part of the country. We live in Tacoma, Washington which is mostly rainy and cloudy and the citizens that live here need an indoor Recreation Center where they can Ice Skate, play Hockey and Tennis and enjoy other activities that take place there. It is a much needed facility and we can't lose it.Flag
