Comments: This is not just about academic freedom. This is about resisting attempts to curtail the study of gender and sexuality studies.

Comments: I am distressed to hear that budget cuts are being used as a rationale for the discontinuation of research and teaching programmes into gender and sexuality studies in the USA. As a recipient of the Russ Davey Sexology Award in Western Australia, I am disturbed that at a time when issues relevant to sexual health are more topical globally than ever before, the US is considering cutting some of these vital academic endeavours. Research into gender and sexuality is critical in industrialised nations. It is so often marginalised in developing contexts that the most vulnerable members of our global community are already placed at tremendous risk, and without input from other nations important evidence-based information does not reach the public domain. I am devastated to hear that freedom of speech is under attack in what I believe is a progressive and democratic country. Please allow the programmes at Georgia State and Florida Atlantic Universities to continue. Silencing these voices will have implications far beyond the boundaries of the USA.

Comments: I fear to have my children in public school because they might get influenced by the right-wing religious nut crowd! I am so sick of the 15% of the population that identifies with the religious-right ATTACKING the rest of us with their FUTURE DESTROYING tactics AGAINST young people. THESE are the people who need to be educated NOT OUR CHILDREN!
