Name: Ronald Motta on Jan 15, 2003State:Country: USComments: Rancho Los Amigos Rehab center ie a valuable resource for Americans with major diabilities, and with out this facility, these Americans with major disabilities would be vulnerable to a rapid decline in their quality of daily living...I am opposed to the closure of this facility. Thank you. Ron MottaFlag

Name: Audrey Moble on Jan 16, 2003State: GACountry: USComments: Closing Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabititation Center would be one of the most irresponsible action in the name of budget cuts. The people that rely on this organization would be at a complete loss. I feel they have suffered enough with their illness. Please re-think this move over and don't let greed sway your decision. Please have compassion!!Flag

I can't imagine what the city/county of Los Angles is thinking of to cause them to do this. If this place closes it will be a black day in the history of people with disabilities.Flag

The Board of Supervisors should be ashamed of themselves. Without Rancho, disabled patients will wherehoused, forgotten and will die. RANCHO MUST CONTINUE TO DO THEIR MIRACLES...Flag

Name: Venus Reyes on Jan 29, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I learned about the closing of Rancho Los Amigos and all I could think about is my mother's well being. She suffers from a C-4 spinal cord injury due to a car accident. Rancho Los Amigos has been one of the most effective facilities in treating my mother's disability. If there is anything I can do please e-mail me or call at (310)715-2673. Thank You.Flag

Name: Jason Chu on Jan 30, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: Closing of this facility is a perfect example of money being prioritized over really good health care, implying that the State of California and Los Angeles County don't think the health of their citizens is important. Money vs. health of their consitutents.....I can't believe they even debate about this one. These government officials should ask themselves what they would do if there ever comes a need, God forbid, for their own rehab...Flag

Name: Cynthia Tieu on Feb 2, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: The up-to-date and research based medical treatments provided by Rancho Los Amigos Rehab Clinic is unsurpassable and is a foundation with which doctors who train at this facility carry forth to other hospitals at which they work at or will work at. The specialty medical care that patients receive here is not even close to being comparable to that of which they will receive at other hospitals.Flag

Name: John Shannon on Feb 5, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: The services of Rancho Los Amigos is unique in its programs of rehabilitation. The self-empowering characteristics of Rancho's programs contrast the institutional quality of other rehabilitation centers. Rancho offers care to the indigent population and provides inpatient and outpatient services. Rancho's self-empowering programs including applied rehabilitation technology training, driver training, vocational services, recreational activities, and art programs. The programs have the potential to increase the autonomy of residents. The programs also counteract helplessness that may result from living in poverty with a disability in a competitive society. Thank you for your consideration.Flag

Name: Rosa Bajwa on May 31, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: My petition is in regards to Ranchos Los Amigos.I am a Foreign Medical Graduate from Mexico but I am a US citizen that lived with a person with Diabetes and now is disable, my daughter of 15 now is Diabetic(type 1),and I work with patients with Diabetes and it is very very important this hospital because they really need the spacial care that the hospital gives in order to have a better quality of life.I think that istead of closing HOSPITALS they should close night clubs, licuor stores etc. instead of medical care that is very important for everybody. It really does not make any sence to close this very important medical care, just because most of the patients are poor I am really sad to see this because our community needs our HELP. Thank you. I hope you could think twice before you close this centers. Rosa BajwaFlag
