Name: Gail Chaddock-Costello on Mar 16, 2010Comments: As a local officer in the Langley Teachers' Association, I hear on a daily basis the struggles teachers are having coping with class size and composition issues, reduced staff to support students with special needs and the increasing risks to their own safety as a result of schools' inability to meet the real needs of struggling students on a daily basis. The systemic, long term underfunding of Public Education seems designed to fail an entire school system to make way for the Liberal agenda of privatizing yet another public service - Public Education.Flag

Name: Sheridan Grant on Mar 17, 2010Comments: A commitment to quality education--addressing each child's needs--is essential. Without a quality education, these children are more likely to impose a greater financial debt to our province through increased costs in the judicial system, health care system, social services system, as so on. Let's be PROACTIVE in giving the children the tools they need to alleviate future financial burden to our province.Flag

Name: Susan Fonseca on Mar 26, 2010Comments: The proposal to cut $6.6 million from student services in 2010-11 is unconscionable in any district that states that it is committed to providing a decent level of education services. Langley was once a lighthouse district in so many areas of service. It is devastating that SD#35 cannot come up with any more creative ideas that cuts, cuts, cuts. As Tr. McFarlane said at Tuesday's SB meeting, this is trying to build a district on quicksand. We need help from the provincial MLA's. Where are they in our hour of need?Flag

When education authorities recognize the the critical role of early intervention they do not cut programs designed to support and protect these children.Flag

Name: Cheryl Chambers on May 22, 2010Comments: As a former Ontario teacher, I am shocked at how little the BC schools are funded. The schools within Ontario did not experience such extensive cuts in the 21 years that I taught there. Isn't it obvious that the problem mainly lies with insufficient funding from the government? When will the government take responsibility for the present educational issues within our school district?Flag
