Robert & Rosie Moran | We are appalled at the thought of this. If we wanted rides and noise we would go to the theme parks in Queensland, our kids love the zoo for the animals and that is how it should stay!
Kate Woodward | Before too long Werribee could be the only attraction which doesn't offer loud music, noise generally and screaming people on rides - what a selling point!
Anonymous | Please protect the Werribee Park Open Range Zoo environment in the best interests of the animals. I love theme parks but I don't believe the Village Roadshow proposal is compatiblie with the conservation, educational and zoological values of the Zoo.
David Luttrell |
Belinda Barton | Keep the Werribee Open Range Zoo just the way it is ... I cannot believe anybody would consider doing anything to change this great place !
Joanna Buck | Thank you!!

Joy Meekings | I do not wish the theme park to go ahead. The animals would be terrified Im sure and they should have the least possible disruption to their lives. I also want Werribee Zoo to be a Zoo not a theme park its the worst idea ever!!

Anonymous | I think open range zoo's are an integeral part of our childrens future, some of the animals on our earth today may not be here if not for zoo's such as Werribee Open Range, breeding programs and areas for them to exist.
Linda Choi | I strongly object to the proposed development. It is a completely inappropriate proposal that will take away what is currently a valuable educational facility for the Victorian community.

Chris Gianatti | I just visited the zoo today for the first time and the place is truly a gem beyond all value! I have never been more disgusted and outraged in my life at anything compared to this proposal. Just who do John Brumby and Co think they are (and Ballieu and that other rubbish lot for that matter if they support it too)? Words can't express how disgusted I am. Any support you need you have!
Caroline Gianatti | Utterly disgraceful.

maryanne fenech-gatt | As a teacher and a parent I believe that the Werribee Zoo needs to remain independent and a zoo. The whole idea of a corporation running the zoo just makes me feel very uncomfortable. Presently, we have access to a great Zoo in our doorstep. It is run exceptionally well and is attractive to many of the overseas guests we have in our home. I do not understand why the government needs to alter what is there and pay the corporation to take run it. What a disgrace!!!

| 3824 | Kieran | I can't believe 'our' government could be so out of step with the community and the spirit of what Werribee zoo stands for. Especially having failed the growth suburbs infrastructure so poorly (in times of economic boom) this is not only a blow for the extended local area but for the entire state.
Get in touch with the people an reconsider this ridiculous decision. |

Susan Smith | Leave our zoos the way they are!

Anonymous | One of the many beautiful and unique aspects of Werribee Zoo is its isolation from our crazy, busy and over-stimulated lives. The zoo provides a peaceful and tranquil place where our family can recharge its batteries - this would be completely lost with a theme park on its doorstep. OUR CHILDREN DO NOT NEED ANOTHER ASSAULT ON THEIR SENSES. Werribee Zoo is a place for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of natural wonders - both animals and plants. A theme park would completely ruin this UNIQUE experience. I'm stunned that our Government has even considered this ludicrous proposal. PLEASE, this site is sacred!!!
Alan Goodyear | It's more important for or children that they have a chance to view these animals, than have fair rides. Otherwise it is just another step towards the destruction of our world.
Stephen Staughton | I strongly object to the government's proposal in even considering the idea of 'walt disneyifing' one of our greatest and most genuine animal experiences. This will undermine the trust we all have in the guarantee of future experiential nourishment we owe to our children and their children to follow. If this happens where do we take our families to enable them to enjoy and cherish a real moment on the topic of animal conservation and world nature.
Peter K Jones | I am very concerned about the proposed privatition of the W P Zoo as outlined above.
Felicity Thyer | I am shocked that the Vic Gov't would even consider such a proposal. This must not go ahead - the Werribee Zoo belongs to Victoria - it is not for sale.
Felicity Thyer | I am shocked that the Vic Gov't would even consider such a proposal. This must not go ahead - the Werribee Zoo belongs to Victoria - it is not for sale.
| 3834 | Doug Miller | The proposed development is in the poorest possible taste, and has no merit on conservation, educational and/or zoological criteria.
If they MUST have a theme park, by all means go ahead and build it, but don't destroy what we already have in order to achieve it. |
Anonymous | Noise pollution (for the animals and those wanting to enjoy the 'safari' aspect of Werribee Zoo), commercial interests rather than animal rights and the loss of public space (ie. allowing a private consortium to lease the land for 99 years) make this an inappropriate venture.
Tracey Kile |
Gabrielle Wells | Keep big business away from Werribee Open Range Zoo. This is a unique community asset that doesn't need dumbing down to reap profits for Village Roadshow shareholders.
Heather Bransgrove | I feel the Zoo should be be run by Zoos Victoria. The Victorian Government should delay its decision and launch an open and transparent review of this proposal.

Elaine Hormann | there are enough theme parks -stick to NATURE
Jeff Carlton | The Werribee Open Range Zoo is a magnificent asset. It is innovative and provides a wonderful introduction to these animals for children. Any moves to change its nature should be condemned.
Nicole Weller |
Helen Tilley | The idea of a theme park at Werribee Open Range Zoo is absolutely disgraceful and totally inappropriate. Keep up the good work fighting to stop this absurd proposal. Tell them to spare a thought for the animals and their environment.
