Comments: This country is free only by the unselfish deeds by our Armed Services. Therefore this country is obligated to do everything to honor those that have put themselves in harms way when this country asked it of them. Those that oppose honoring our Military should be replaced immediately from any level of government, for they do not know the first thing about freedom, and are not stewarts of freedom.

Comments: Having just lost one of my Vietnam buddies I cannot stress the importance of a local VA Hospital as it was the only health care he could receive as he was rejected for various reasons from all other health care options and would have died alone with no one took take care of him. Thank God for the compassionate VA Health care system.

Comments: Having retired from VA Montrose after 22 years of service I know it has been a refuge of last resort for those who have sacrificed so much for their country. For 59 years it has provided a haven for those who have borne the battle. It has done so proudly and is a unique rsource to the Veterans of Westchester County. The nearest hospital facility north or south of the FDR Campus is over 20 miles away. THere is no public transportation and no easy access for those whose injuries are increasingly likely to involve loss of limb or mobility. It is preposterous to belive that leasing out the facility for private development will offset the costs we are now incurring to protect the American way of life . It would be both proper and fitting to continue the tradition of service that the FDR Campus has provided to veterans of two declared wars, a police action, and 4 un -declared armed conflicts . We ask much of our service men and women and they serve our country in the time honored traditions of military personnel. With all we expect and ask of them the least we can do is to help mitigate their pain and suffering without regard to our convenience.or short term gain. The re-invigoration of the FDR Campus and creation of a veteran village as a tribute to our soldiers is the least we can do to hone their sacrifices and service.
