Bishop's Stortford is an historic market town. It is in danger of being over-developed and over-stretched if large scale housing developments on Bishop's Stortford countryside go ahead.
We strongly object to these proposals because they would:
- lead to the loss of green space and the sense of rural community we cherish
- put unacceptable pressure on the town's infrastructure
- put an unacceptable strain on the sustainability of the town and the land around it
- erode Bishop's Stortford's identity as an historic market town

I totally agree with all the comments made. With another 4500 homes planned including the ASR's, EHDC have used the town simply to fill the housing quota without fairly spreading the commitment over the whole District. We have been given no robust proposals as to how BS will manage this increased pressure on our already stretched infrastructure. What are our representatives doing to support the town? Given the poor turnout of the drop-in session and delivery issues of the pamphlets for the District Plan consultation should this period be extended?
