Comments: We must keep these pools open for the kids. Swimming is such an integral part of Canadian's child development, where our children are constantly around water. For the love of the sport and the kid's physical well-being, it is vital that they have the access to pools in their local communities. them.

Comments: With many new immigrants making Toronto their home it is doubly important that their children learn how to swim. Evidence shows that swimming ability alone cannot prevent downing. While parent and tot swimming classes are designed to educate adults in water safety, toddlers are still too young to grasp these concepts. Safe Kids Canada recommends that by age five, children are ready to be enrolled in swimming lessons. This is a developmental milestone for children. At this age children have the mental capacity to understand the concepts taught in swimming lessons, as well as the increased muscle development and coordination. Please work together and find long term solutions to keep these pools open.

Comments: Increasing rates of physical inactivity among children and youth must be countered with school-based opportunities for swimming and access to swim pools. Please do not sacrifice the health and well being of our students by closing school pools in the TDSB.

Comments: Quality of life should be actively promoted for all Torontonians, not just those that can afford private sport and fitness clubs, or cottages. Neighbourhood pools should be supported, promoted, and enhanced in order to improve the quality of life for urban people.

Comments: These pools are BARGAINS as preventitive medicine...keep kids fit with an activity they LOVE. I can't believe our governments are letting our kids down. Everyone knows the money is out there, and if you close these pools, we'll know that you're highest priority is not in the best interests of our children. Here is your chance to change public opinion. Please do the right thing.

Comments: Please reconsider and reverse this decision to close the pools. The pools are a vital part of the health and recreation of not only students, but seniors and many others in the community. Please take a longer-term look at the issue - it may result in financial savings in the short term, but will have greater health care implications in the longer term.

Comments: We all know the huge importance of physical health. We need to look at the bigger picture. If we don't have healthy ways for children and adults to exercise we pay a huge price down the road. Think smart invest now!

Comments: Having the pool makes my children excited about going to school. It also teaches them water saftey, which is so important in cutting down the number of drownings each year. It also encourages them to be active, another important factor with children not leading active lives these days. When we tell people from other cities about having a pool for the children, they are all extremely jealous and envious. This kind of service is what sets TDSB apart from the others.
