Name: Shona MacLean on Feb 19, 2008Comments: PLEASE don't close our rink, it is so important for the skaters and their coaches to be able to continue to train. Refurbish one part at a time, and if they complain tell them it's either this or close it!Flag

Name: Sally Bruce on Feb 19, 2008Comments: Why are the council shutting down the ice rink it's so stupid as ice skating is one of the many few activities that us kids can enjoy also it is a form of exercise which means children will be getting more over weight if it closed, and the council are always getting on to kids for hanging around the streets, well skating at the Linx Ice Skating Arena is a great activity where kids can hang out with there friends and have fun and a few laughs while losing weight. Also Ice Skating is a great hobby that kids and adults can take up and get better at, then maybe win a few competitions. Plus the ice hockey team and figure skaters will have to travel out to Dundee if they want on ice to practice. Also when I go skating the ice rink is always very busy with lots of parties and just people wanting to go skating So PLEASE keep the ice rink open as normal. PLEASE do it for the very so hopeful kids and adults!!!!Flag

Name: Fiona Boyne on Feb 19, 2008Comments: There is little enough for the youth of today to do - and it is terrible that the ones that are interested in a sport - USING THE ONLY ICE RINK IN ABERDEEN - are not now going to be able to do this any more. Aberdeen Council's proposal is so short-sighted and deprives Aberdeen of a much used and much needed facility.Flag

Give sport a sporting chance - poor financial management in other areas in not a good enough excuse to close this and other important sports and liesure resources!Flag

Name: Chris Parker on Feb 19, 2008Comments: Keep Aberdeen Ice Rink open and running during the refurbishment period. Ice skating facilities throughout Scotland and the wider UK are gradually being wittled away, this trend should be resisted if we are to seriously preserve the future of the sport in the UK. We cannot afford to loose another ice rink at Aberdeen.Flag

Name: Debbie Brodie on Feb 19, 2008Comments: I am appalled at the council's decision to close the rink. My 9 year old daughter has been a member of the Linx club for over 3 years, she is broken hearted about the closure. We try to encourage our children to take up hobbies to keep them off the streets and to keep them healthy and fit, and to stop them sitting in front of the TV and computer games, what kind of example is this to themFlag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 19, 2008Comments: Kids don't have enough to do as it is, why take away something else as well as swimming pools and other facilities!!!! Start looking at councillors expenses, fact finding trips and subsidised meals for council staff to save money. This whole exercise is nothing short of farcical.Flag

Doesn't it make sense to generate as much income as you can from these things - refurbish and still stay open. We're Scots - the greatest inventors, pioneers etc. You're letting everyone downFlag

Maybe if they stopped spending the money on themselves (the council bosses wages!!!) and started thinking sensibly rather than thinking of there own personnel expensises and trips they could have!!!!Flag
