Liz Cameron | The Linx Ice Arena is a unique facitlity in the North east. It keeps kids off the street and promotes health.

Kiedra | DON'T close OUR RINK..!
Simon Miller | Don't Close the rink
Mrs Amanda Main | I have 3 sons who use the rink every week and one who uses a wheelchair but who does access the rink ocassionally with the special chairs that are available. This is an activity they can enjoy together. We have been members of the Linx club for 5 years.

Alison Brownlee | Please do not close the only ice rink in the City of Aberdeen. I have used the facility since it opened in 1992, and it would be devastating to the future of skating in Scotland to loose such a fantastic facility. The ice rink also helps keep children off our streets and promotes healthy living.
S Taylor | Ice sports in Scotland are being threatened with extinction. How can we develop the athletes of the future when yet another facility is being closed down?
andy ferguson | Seems like another excuse for a Council efficiency saving! Where is there commitment to improving the health of the nation
Colette Baxter |
Stuart Miller | One of the best ice surfaces in the country with great staff. Do not see any reason to refurbish when compared to other Scottish rinks.
Ali MacLeod |
Nicola Liddle | Surprising that there is plan to close the rink when the dancing on ice programme is on - surely a time when more of the public want to use the facility?
Fiona Bain | Crazy that they would even think about it!
Gordon Cox |
Craig Pike | Yet another example of a local authority which has very little foresight in providing the services required by the community. Budgets are inherently slashed and then spent on the wrong things. What is my Council Tax paying for ? This is one facility which simply has to be saved as a popular family resource within the community. Come on City Council, and for once listen to the people who live here - these cuts cannot, and should not go ahead.

Anonymous | When there are such concerns regarding the fitness of our young people we should not be closing any kind of sports /leisure facilities.
Angela Penny |
David Harrison | Aberdeen has high aspirations for the future, surely as part of this vision it needs to be developing its sports facilities, not shutting them down. This is another example of the short sighted, backward minded nature of Aberdeen City Council.
Karen Laing | I cannot believe we are going to loose the ice skating facililty in Aberdeen again! My family and I are members of the LInks Skating Club and have enjoyed many hours at the rink. My young daughter is almost old enough to venture on to the ice and I was looking forward to carrying on the skating tradition in our family. This is very dissapointing that she will not be able to enjoy this sporting activity, which was initially recommended to my mother by her doctor as a good way to improve her fitness after pneumonia.
Rebecca Cameron | Keep Our Ice Rink Open! Its The One Of The Only Good Things We Have In Aberdeen!
Anonymous | There are far too few Ice Rinks as it is without closing those that are around. How are Great Britain to ever give the best opportunities to young skaters (new and experienced) if the facility they so desperately need are taken away. HOW MANY FOOTBALL PITCHES DO YOU SEE CLOSING?????
Moira Pacitti |
Rebecca Peare | Don't let down the staff, coaches and skaters by shutting the rink.

| 131 | Yvonne Manson | This an absolute disgrace. How can a council who purports to state a sport for all policy contemplate closing a unique facility for this length of time.
The facility management MUST be questioned on their ability to run such a specialised venue if it requires such a refurbishment.
This is a modern facility and should not require this level of refurbishment if proper and adequate housekeeping is regularly maintained. |
Aileen Angus | What about all the summer visitors whose revenue you will lose? If you close for 18 months you will ruin the opportunity of hundreds of youngsters who may want to compete or make skating a career. You will lose the opportunity of finding new talent. You will break the chain of youngsters who trust and know their instructors. You will lose some of the best instructors in the country. By the time you reopen children who have so far progressed well will have to learn again from scratch. What about the promise of sport for all?

David Urquhart | Outrageous, A city the size of Aberdeen should not be losing facilities such as this, especially with the amount of new housing developments within the city and suburbs.
Susan McDonald | Absolutely ludicrous to close the rink when it is currently over subscribed. This is a great facility for keeping the children off the streets and getting them active in a sport which is growing with popularity.

Fiona Hawthorne | With more and more bad press about young people both locally and nationally surely it's not in the the council, or any other agencies best interest to close a facility which offers recreational activites and health benefits to all, especially the youth.
Mrs Fiona Wilson | Please do not close this excellent facility for young and old alike. I know a lot of kids who use this facility and my children love to go and it's also used when they attend the beach leisure centre day camps.
