I don't know how the big guns at the council can sleep at night!! Why not make the cuts in other places for example your gardeners department 3 times i passed them last week and 3/4 were working with another 8-10 watching!! Whats that all about! The problem with our council is they spend all the money on useless initatives and don't keep the ones that really count! Aberdeen has already lost an ice rink in the last decade or so don't let this be another!!! I will apologise now for the rant but not for what i've said!! SAVE LINK ICE ARENA,ABERDEEN:):)! |

The Council have to acknowledge that they'll not only be closing down some mere building used for Ice Skating etc, but also be deleting an ICON from Aberdeen City, which I'm sure will do it's image and tourism some fine favours - sarcasm. The Council are going to make this City a very dull place if they keep considering it wise to dismantle the City piece by piece. WAKE UP MEN, AND STAY TRUE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS RATHER THAN GREED! |
| 6316 | Graham Howes | Having been involved in the Elgin clubs from thier inception until just recently, its hardly surprising that the council are taking this decision, In Elgin also there is virtually no support for the "non-fashionable" sports that are played, besides the "old men" of recce this facitilty is one which keeps many youngsters of the streets at weekends and channels thier frustrations into a sport rather than in some mindless stupidity that so often is accredited to the younger elements nowadays. |

| 6319 | Stephen Rainey | As a former Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Aberdeen Ice Hockey Club, I am very disappointed to learn of the potential closure of the Links Arena for 18 months while the facility is refurbished. As ice hockey is a minority sport, the Aberdeen club struggles to attract both players and coaches. Despite this, it competes favourably with the more establiched clubs in the central belt. A closure of the length proposed could threaten the future of ice hockey in Aberdeen. I strongly urge the Council to find an alternative way to keep the rink open during the hockey season if at all possible. |
| 6320 | Gemma Smith | I am in total disbelief that the rink is being closed. I frequently used the ice rink when I was younger and still do today occasionally. Every Saturday my mum would take my friends and I skating. I remember being so proud when I received my first ever pair of skates. As I got older, the skating on a Friday night was the place to be and I never missed a disco. It was there that I made life long friends with other kids. It would be a scandal to deny our children today of all the fun that can be had on that rink. Please think again!!! |

Why should they miss out for up to 2 years whilst ,no doubt , very expensive refurbishements are carried out to make "one of the best facilities in Scotland" ! It certainly isn't much of an asset whilst it is out of action - is it? Dos it have to be the best or will good do? In which case why can't you phase the refurbishment and minimise the disruption to the users and staff? |
