The clubs formed many links between Aberdeen and other Scottish cities and many expat US/ Canadian/Scandinavians living and working in the city became close friends and developed working networks. Between the city baths and the rink closing one has to wonder if Aberdeen is a civicly minded city or being run down by short termists uninterested in the health and wellbeing of its citizens and staff and unaware of the negative image of the city they are projecting. Maybe more pubs are the answer. |

| 6296 | Kelly | I am very sad about the closure of Linx skating arena. As most of my friends go and there really good, and all there years of training are just getting shoved back in there faces. They have competed in many competitions and achieved alot and they would like to keep doing so but they can't because the council are closing it. It's very, very sad I really can't believe they could do something like this. I've also just started and i've just started to get good. My friends have been helping me out and I was trying to get as good as them but due to the closure I won't be able to do that and by the time it is opened again I will be away to America. I'm also outaged about the council saying " Kids & teenagers like myself are not getting enough exercise" but what are they supposed to do now? Are we supposed to run around the streets. What about keeping fit & having loads of exercise? Making people think exercise is fun and they'll do it because its fun! Now I don't know how me and my friends are going to exercise and have fun at the same time. Skating is the only sport I ever loved.

| 6298 | Chloe | I'm a mother of two kids who are mad about skating one 14 & the other 10 they were both great. My 10 year old daughter Claire had just got into grade 10 & my 14 year old daughter Jessica had just got into grade 7. There both very good skaters and have both been in many competitions and shows. Last year Claire won 7 skating medals 1 for 5th place, 3 for 2nd place, 1 for 3rd place & 2 for 1st place. She'd done a great job. Also Jessica is only in grade 7 and she won 4 medals last year 3 for 3rd place & 1 for 2nd place she did not win first place in any competition but she done a great job for her grade. Also Claire & Jessica have put in so much hardwork into skating & they are in love with it. It is a shame that Claire had a dislocated knee and did not particapate in the December or January show but Jessica was in the January show i'm very proud of her she done a great job. I sit and watch my daughters skate there really good & they have always got a smile on their faces when there doing it even if they cant do something. Also the coaches & the staff will be out of a job where will they go? I dont think they need to close the skating for as long as 18 months. I'm also worried about all the kids who go there and want to be proffesional skaters & are in their teens ready for a job in a few years what are they going to do? When they've put all there time into training for skating. PLEASE DON'T CLOSE THE SKATING!
