| 5901 | Yvonne Moir | This is ridiculous. Are Aberdeen city council trying to shut down all amenities in Aberdeen - ice rink, Bon Accord baths, selling all city centre sites for flats and office blocks, blinkered vision of airport opening, city bypass, Donald Trump investment. They speak about Aberdeen being the oil capital of the world - what a joke!! Dead end city maybe nearer the mark. |
| 5902 | Anonymous | Save the rink!! |
| 5903 | Jennifer Buchan | What on earth are you thinking about Aberdeen Council shame on you. |

| 5905 | megan | No dont......
people say tht there is nothing for kids 2 do & tht is y there is vadels welll there is only goiin 2 bee mre.... :L |
| 5906 | Katie Milne | You all say you want to get teenagers off the street at night so how are we suppose to do that if you shut down everywhere we want to go?? |
| 5907 | sheena wilson | |
| 5908 | Jean Craigmyle | Again the ice rink is taken away from me, same happened with donalds, cant believe its happening all over again, I lost out of years of skating because of this, please don't let it happen again, Ice pad is wrecked due to not keeping up the maintenance, bloody disgrace, get the proper management and the right staff and get it sorted, as for the council, YOU SUCK!!!!!! |

| 5915 | Anonymous | there's too little leisure facilities in Aberdeen, closing down the successful ones will not help. how are young people supposed to find hobbies & stay fit?! it's a discgrace & the Council should be ashamed! |
| 5916 | Robert Scott | Its an absolute disgrace. |
| 5917 | sheila duff | |
| 5918 | Fiona Webster | |
| 5919 | Louise Farmer | My daughter really enjoys her skating and is devastated at the imminent loss of the Ice Rink.
What happened to the Government and Local authority policies about ensuring that our teenagers lit active and healthy lives? |
| 5920 | Alison Shaw | Many people would suffer. Ice skating is an excellent exercise and with so many of the obesity in young people today it would be a tragedy to close the rink for 18 months. |

| 5925 | Monika Fotheringham | |
| 5926 | martin osborne | To close this important leisure facility is extremely backward and also detrimental to the good of the people of Aberdeen |
| 5927 | Gavin Bell | This decision by Aberdeen City Council is very disappointing and very short sighted. OK the council is, as always, under financial pressure but there is always more than one solution. Once again, we see Aberdeen City Council choosing the easy option instead of getting off their backsides to look for alternatives. This is NOT what I voted for in the last election.
It is just sad that the situation goes suddenly to closure without any chance for regular users to get together to try to work out a commercial plan to meet the financial demands.....where has the consultation been, where was the warning that if usage didn't increase / revenues improve it might not be a viable facility? Nowhere 'cause our Council representatives don't have the brains to think further than the next meeting. |
| 5928 | Sandra Bradford | This is ludicrous!!! What is the council thinking??? |
| 5929 | Gary Strachan | Vital that our kids get fit. We should be opening more facilities not closing them!! |
| 5930 | Debbie Kelly | |
| 5931 | Colin Moir | Yet another short sighted example by local and national government. Next thing they will waste a bunch of money on a campaign to keep children of the streets and how to keep fit. Fell sorry for children that have dedicated their young lives to prepare to represent our country at a world level. Now what for them!! |
| 5932 | Richard Stables | This is no more than cost-cutting, and when the rink is closed and everyone is used to not having it, they will then close it down for good. |
| 5933 | Susan Campbell | |
| 5934 | nicola grimmer | i think its wrong to close ,, |
| 5935 | GRAHAM ROBERTSON | This is a disgrace to even think about this closure.
What about keeping our kids safe and of the streets
keeping them fit ,healthy and happy |
| 5936 | Anonymous | Lots of Kids use this facility. Have you seen them queuing to get in on Fri/Sat night. These kids are going to have to hang round street corners instead. Incredibly short sighted council. |
| 5937 | Audrey Innes | We have something that kids and adult alike love. It keeps trouble off our streets and our wonderful council wants to close it. Smart!!! |
| 5938 | Richard Harris | |
| 5939 | Pauline Wood | This is a valuable resource and produces a lot of talent. How can it be justifiable to close for so long, when national government policy is to encourage people to exercise more, which this provides |
| 5940 | Carole Hall | I fully support the petition to save the ice rink |
| 5941 | Irene Dillon | |
| 5942 | Anonymous | My daughter goes to the skating club on a thursday evening and it is the only thing she enjoys doing. |
| 5943 | Jeanette Munro | |
| 5944 | S ABBOT | This is shocking. The council should be ashamed of themselves but I believe they have no morals anyway!! |
| 5945 | Anonymous | Please do not close this ice ring. Please Please. |
| 5946 | katy duncan | please keep it open it is the only place i can meet up with my friends! |
| 5947 | Fiona Bakke | As the parent of two young boys, one now a teenager, and both of whom are extremely keen on ice-skating, I feel it would be EXTREMELY short sighted of you to close down the Linx Ice Arena.
Quite apart from providing the facilities for potential future world class skaters, this facility provides a fantastic place for young people to learn and enjoy this sport, many of them young men who, without such a facility, may drift elsewhere and towards a much more unhealthy lifestyle.
This facility, as demonstrated by the length of the queues at just about every public session, literally 'keeps young people off the streets and out of trouble'. In this day and age, where any facility that prevents this HAS to be a boon, I cannot believe that you are considering closure, even on a temporary basis (with a distinct risk of temporary becoming permanent).
Please don't do this. We need all the facilities we can get in order to ensure that our sons and daughters have activities they enjoy and which help stop them simply hanging around on street corners, with all the risks that that entails.
Yours sincerely, Fiona Bakke |
| 5948 | Elaine Campbell | Both my children reguarly use the ice rink for the Friday evening disco sessions and the weekend open sessions.
Two year ago my son joined the Ice Hockey Club and we as a family have invested a lot of money and time supporting him in this hobby. His confidence has increased because of his connection to the ice hockey club. It is a terrible shame that all his hard work to become good enough to play in regular weekend matches will go to waste. |
| 5949 | Aileen Mitchell | |
| 5950 | Adrian Hartley | My son has been part of the ice hockey club for two years and we have spent a great deal of time and money supporting his love of ice hockey. We will all be devastated if the rink closes. |
