A tourist attraction visited by thousand stopping to admire the views of such beauty and somebody trying to remove the one thing visitors just cannot do without.Flag

Name: Eileen O'Hara on Jul 1, 2010Comments: I think it is a disgrace councils close facilities we pay council tax for and would like to know how they can justify £6,000 to £8,000 a year to keep one open. Some of them do not even have attendants and are a disgrace AND THEY HAVE THE CHEEK TO CHARGEFlag

Name: Petrie on Jul 2, 2010Comments: I have often used these public loos in the past, and would have expected to use them again. If the council can't afford to keep them open, why don't they hand them over to some local enterprise to run them, with a charge to cover the costs.Flag

Name: Janice Hendry on Jul 2, 2010Comments: with so many tourists visiting the area each year it seems senseless to close the toilets. I'm sure no-one would object to paying to use them if that was the only way to keep them open.Flag

Name: Hilary Brown on Jul 4, 2010Comments: Public toilets are among the most essential of council provisions and it is a public health hazard to close them. For Health and Safety reasons public toilets should be available and well maintained at all possible locations, especially those which attract a large number of tourists, such as the Corrieshalloch Gorge, mentioned in the petition. The toilets at Rogie Falls should be open all year; they are sometimes still closed in the spring when many people are stopping to view the Falls. No, you cannot reduce the number of public toilets!Flag

Name: Stephen Hendry on Jul 4, 2010Comments: There is no point in public money being spent to attract tourists to Scotland and not having the most basic of facilities available when they do visit. Public toilets also serve locals too, especially those with young children.Flag

Name: Dave Macfarlane on Jul 5, 2010Comments: I believe that the public toilets are an important feature for visitors and road users and would support a pay system to recover materials and cleaning costs. I visit the Highlands frequently and appreciate the availability of public toilets and would understand the need to pay for use. (the 20 p I've paid in locations is a bargain for a well maintaind facility. I would expect a cost recovery fee might be somewhat higher). Perhaps subscription cards could be sold, similar to mobile phone cards that could topped up by phone. Dave Macfarlane CanadaFlag

Name: Michael Brown on Jul 5, 2010Comments: I regard access to public toilets as the most basic of Public Health provisions. The availability of well maintained public toilets is the sign of a civilized society. Public toilets are particularly needed in the Highlands where travelling distances are long and where maintaining high visitor numbers is so important for the prosperity of the region. Closing toilets should not even be considered.Flag
