Name: Alison Girling on Jun 4, 2010Comments: The parks and gardens around Trafford have changed over the last years because of the dedicated staff that are based there. There will be a deterioration of the spaces and revert back to being hanging out places for teenagers and the like because they will be unsupervised. Trafford need to think very hard and long about this decision after investing so much money in raising the standars of the parks and gardens to achieve the green flag awards.Flag

Name: B Fogg & Jeni Fogg on Jun 4, 2010Comments: Jeni Fogg was Founder Chair of the Friends of Walkden Gardens in the days when vandalism was rife and the contract gardeners had no sense of ownership. Things were in a disgusting state at this time. She fought for the railings and gate, the Dove Gote and the employment of a gardener; a visit by the expensive Directors on the council would perhaps help them see the folly of their ways. B Fogg, husband of the hard working Jeni.Flag

Name: Lis Phelan on Jun 6, 2010Comments: Whilst aware that all local authorities are reducing spending, I would ask that very careful thought is given to any cuts that will make Trafford's parks less welcoming for local residents. Adequate security is crucial and attractive, accessible public areas are a key element of quality of life for all our communities.Flag

Name: Mr C. S. Naldrett on Jun 6, 2010Comments: The proposal does not make any sense. The outcome will not be one anyone wants, including the councilors who thought it up. It is even more of a shame after there has been so much hard work over a long period to get the parks to such a good standard, to waste all that hard work.Flag

Name: Zoe Walton on Jun 6, 2010Comments: Traffords parks are fantastic and reducing the staffing levels will inevitably result in a deterioration in their condition. They make a big difference to the quality of the lives of your residents and so I would like to urge you to keep the current staffing levels.Flag

Name: Pauline Law on Jun 6, 2010Comments: The proposals will take us back to the position that exisited when we found it necessary to set up the Friends Groups to combat the decline in our parks. These proposals will seriosly undermine all that we have achieved and the strong bond formed between the Parks department and the Friends and local communities.Flag

Name: Bernice Garlick on Jun 6, 2010Comments: Thousands of people use our parks. In Stretford, the parks are our last remaining community asset. Victoria Park is a gem which is the site of many community celebrations. This financial cut will significantly damage so much more than is at first apparent. It is short-sighted and will be much more expensive in the long term.Flag

Name: Patricia Cranston on Jun 6, 2010Comments: I value our parks and much appreciate the work that goes into them by the local councils. It cannot be consistently and reliably done on a voluntary basis only. Also in days when building more and more properties, and not leisure facilities, for people seems to be the priority, surely preservation of our parks is paramount.Flag

Name: Mari Buckley on Jun 7, 2010Comments: I was born in Sale Cottage Hospital in 1958, alongside the beautiful Worthington Park, and lived in Hope Road for the first 23 years of my life. When I lived in Sale I visited the park often, and have lots of happy memories of playing on the swings as a child. This is the first I've heard of this proposal, but it would truly be a sad day for all should this park, and others, fall into disrepair because of a short-sighted decision made by an equally short-sighted councillor who may only be in office for an equally short time, and not be around to see the resulting vandalism etc. (A lot of "equallys" there, but I'm sure you know what I mean!!) Name: Victoria Talbot on Jun 7, 2010Comments: in this climate when we are trying to get people fit and healthy and off the sofa, we need our parks to be well maintained. This is not just pretty flowers, but glass, litter dog muck, so it is safe for children and adultsFlag

Name: Rita Williams on Jun 7, 2010Comments: The parks are a place to get away from the rat race of life. Natures best plants, lawns and trees for all to enjoy. To keep standards up it takes plenty of man power which if cut down - the lovely parks will go to pots. I realise councils have to cut down where they can, volunteers do enough already.Flag

Name: Mary Atherton on Jun 7, 2010Comments: At the moment parks in Trafford are very well maintained and supervised. They are a pleasure to visit by all ages. This situation is due to the care and attention given by our Parks staff. Parks are valued more than ever today and respected in the main because they are attractive and safe places to visit and offer a wide range of facilities. There is no way that this will remain the case if the staff are re-directed to other tasks. The same level of care will NOT be acheived. Once this happens our parks will deteriorate and be seen as places for undesirable behaviour. The parks staff are vital members of the community often well-known by the locals. These links are important and once lost hard to re-instate. A mobile team can never achieve the same overall results as established personel known to the community.Flag

Name: Marion Gillespie on Jun 7, 2010Comments: It has taken a long time to get the trafford parks back up to were they are a pleasing place to walk and play and this is a lot down to the hard work of the gardening staff to take this away is to loose all that long hard work.Flag

Name: David Eatock on Jun 7, 2010Comments: Public parks tick all the boxes in terms of supporting and encouraging health and wellbeing, providing a pleasant environment in which to live and caring for plants, birds and other wildlife. It is clearly evident that the resources available to manage and maintain the parks is already cut to the bone. There are other and better ways to save money from the Council budget.Flag

Name: Annie Keogh on Jun 7, 2010Comments: How much more disinvestement can you make to the parks. I dont live in the area any more, but last year I visied Longford Park. with my Mother who has visited the park for over 60 years. We could not believe the condition it was in then. If you rermove the already depleated staff then you may as well close the park all together, or is that what you want?Flag

Name: Jane Booth on Jun 7, 2010Comments: I go to my local park every day for a walk round before or after work, the park is maintained extremely well and I think the park keepers do a fantastic job to keep the park looking it's best. They should be commended for the work they do, not be threatened with the loss of thier jobs, just to keep down costs! I think the park would really suffer if this level of daily maintance was to be taken away.Flag

Name: Noelle Ryder on Jun 7, 2010Comments: I visited Victoria Park for the first time in 10yrs last weekend and what a transformation. Organised events, every area in use in one form or another, access for all. I lived around the corner for 10 yrs when my children were young and it would have been unthinkable to spend an afternoon there, it was so run down and constantly vandalised. Thank you park staff for your valued contribution not just in parks and open spaces but allotments too. Your hard work will surely mean Trafford has many Parks to nominate for Prince Williams new initiative in honour of his Grandmother.Flag
